For some reason, I have been in love with bridges, and would like to find some cool bridge designs. If you have any please post a picture. Any type of bridge, small ones that cross water or large ones that cover a major valley. I had a really nice design that I liked a lot but ever since 1.5 stairs fail... It was very simple and was half-steps with stairs on the edge. Well I look forward to seeing your bridged. :smile.gif:
I do a lot of road building, so naturally I end up making a lot of bridges too. I'm not a very talented builder overall, so my styles are quite simple, but every time I like to try something new and different.
I hope these screenshots aren't too many.
This is a little bridge with bricks. I orignally wanted it to be a bit longer, but the gap I was trying to cover was too short.
A rather simple bridge over water.
A wooden bridge that "floats" on the water.
And from the side
Another bridge that crosses a bay.
This particular design for the accents on top is very bad because it forces you to walk in a straight line, otherwise you keep bumping.
It cuts through the pillar of another, taller, bridge.
An EXTREMELY simple one, it's as basic as it gets.
The big one seen from the side.
And from the top.
This is the part where it descends.
I try to get artsy-fartsy with the pillars occasionally.
I also try to make them look pretty at night. This is an overview of some of those bridges at night.
Those are nice, I really like the ones with the "artsy-fartsy" pillars.
This thread just renewed my minecraft interest 100%. Shame most of my world is flat. Guess I could bridge the space between my watchtowers :tongue.gif:
Lol.
I also found another cool design: at about 28 seconds in there is a really nice bridge in the background. and at 35 seconds in you can get a closer look.
I haven't really made bridges either, but I have four sky-ways leading off of my main base's roof to other locations...they bridge over land...does that count?

I recently made a walkway of out glass and cobblestone in the Nether, as I am going to make a bio-dome using INVedit water and grass. I have to say, enclosed walkways through lava-falls are awesome. Try building some stuff there, just watch out for Ghasts, lol.

...its a little weightist to assume everyone is the same size. Like some people are skinny and some people are fart.

i know im only sopposed to post a bridge pic but what if notch makes the bridge like wood in middle fence around an dstrethc long so no more swimming or going to steap down and having a problem coming or no problems
havin to get across mines with big gaps in them

One thing you can do that adds some nice aesthetic touch to some bridges is to put fences on the BOTTOM of the bridge. It can look like some sort of support structure, and it looks nice on wooden or basic stone bridges.

I make a tower to the max sky limit with ladders, and make paths spreading out in different directions.

Awesome ideas (not mine):
The Aether
Oceancraft
Geocraft
Farmcraft
Google these to find out what they are!
those paths are bridges, just not with too much detail.
yes that counts :smile.gif:
Yea, lava bridges are pretty awesome.

I agree there should be a category for bridges. I like the Eco Friendly Bridge Idea.
I don't really understand what you mean?

Post a picture?
It's at least 600 tiles long, maybe almost 1000, which is a fair bit longer than I could fit in one screenshot.
