No. Mojang shouldn't need to be overly worried about modders needs. They've been implementing the ones that they think fits Minecraft and is really neat. That's really all they should do. In fact, that is much more than most developers would do. Also, modders have the full source code and everything. Minecraft is a modders paradise compared to other games.
I think the rate of updates is fine right now. As it doesn't get updated too often to make it annoying for mods but it gets updated enough so it doesn't get too boring.

You know, the biggest reason that mods have/had fallen behind is because the mod makers have become used to the fact that updates were trickling out at once a month at most, for some time now. There is no drive for them to be more on top of things.
But as updates come more quickly, they will be forced to keep up more quickly with their mods.. or other players will get sick of waiting, and take up the cause of their mod for themselves. It's happened before in other games. Some people make mods, and love the praise and recognition, but simply get bored of said game and walk away after a while, and someone else is forced to step up and take their place.
The slow update process has allowed mod makers to be more lazy. The faster updated process will force them to be more responsive, or someone else will take over their work. Even if said other person(s) are forced to start a mod idea from scratch. If it's popular enough, and wanted enough, and the original person is not delivering, someone else will.
Using mods into the equation of whether updates should be fast or slow is really not something that should be done. They should be the least concern, especially to the dev team. Don't get me wrong, I love certain mods as much as anyone. But to hold up the game to accomodate slow or lazy mod developers? Hell no.
The updates had slowed down a lot when they first moved to their new offices. Now they pick back up again, to where they probably should be. Mod makers are on notice to pick up their pace.
Think about it, some plugins for servers hadn't updated to 1.4 yet, and they gonna put in 1.5?
It sounds too fast to me...
And in another thread, someone is complaining that the 1.5 update is taking TOO LONG!
My, how will we know which one of your irrational opinions is the CORRECT one?
Seriously, it's not Mojang's concern if modders don't keep their own **** updated. Nor should it be. They're trying to produce their own game, and you're asking them to work slower for your own benefit.

Personally I like the updates coming the way they are. I don't really use mods because I can never get them to work properly. The updates provide variety to the game for us vanilla players. I have the same problem with some of my favorite texture packs, but it's still not a real problem.
And besides, if you don't want to update you don't have to. They are optional after all.

Really?
Unsupported plugins haven't updated yet and you think that Mojang should slow down their updates to cater to Unsupported Mods to the game.
I would rather see them put out updates daily that break every single Mod than to have them slow down to cater to something that is yet to be supported by the game they are developing.
I play on a SMP that uses plugins and they don't update until all the plugins are fixed, but I would still rather that the game is developed and all the bugs are fixed than to have them wait for all mods to update before they put out new stuff.

Updates too often can't possibly be a bad thing unless the content in the update is bad.
The only thing that I don't like is that once you generate a world, there may be features that the game does not render but in a future update they would... For instance, if you want Lapis on an old save, you would have to travel to new chunks, same thing with natural sandstone, birch and pine, etc...
I start a new world every update and try not to spend too much time on one game because I know Ill just end up deleting it and starting a new world on the next update.
It sounds too fast to me...

I do agree with you in some ways, however this will be no problem when an official modding API comes out. =]
If an update is released and I don't want to apply it untill some mods are updated as well, I just hit "Not now" when prompted.

Seriously. Eventually, we'll get an API to make Minecraft friendly mods, so quitchurbitchin.
If the modders cannot update their mods on time that is not Mojang's problem.
