Basicly i played minecraft on normal mode because i simply did not knew what peacefull mode was or did and never tought to turn it on to try until 2 months after starting.
These 2 months we're the best months of minecraft. Ignoring safety was simply not an option and every moves had to be carefully planned. I remember my first expedition outside my comfort mountain side base, boy what a thrill. Now that i found out peacefull mode i still enjoy, but whenever a creeper is about to blow my precious base, esc+peacefull mode. Whenever on low health, screw carrying food in my precious inventory slots, Esc+Peacefull mode.
I Wish we had the option to 'lock' the difficulty setting when creating a map.

It's called set it and forget it.
I don't care if people decide to play on peaceful. Maybe they just want to relax and build. But using it as a crutch because you can't kill a creaper or took a long walk off a short bridge.. Nah. If you want to play on peaceful, keep it on peaceful. If you want monsters, deal with the monsters properly. Switching to peaceful is the easy way out.
The most rewarding setting in my book is HARD!!!! The only times I play on peaceful is when I load one of my redstone testing maps. Although recently I just use one of my servers with animals and hostiles turned off for that.

I gave up peaceful after I discovered a few good clients to simulate creative survival mode, so now I can focus on one fully legit world and another limitless world. I really enjoy surviving, but I also enjoy creative building. So, now I can get the best of both worlds.
I only use Peaceful if A: I'm constructing something and I don't want to be interrupted, or B: I want to heal in a cave when I have no health. Yes, I know, lazy, but still.

I normally only play on peaceful when I'm working on a large project or building in the Nether. Most of the time I play on normal. I find it adds more depth to the game, though there are times when I just want to build. I never use peaceful to restore my health.
I played for many months on hard mode during alpha. Recently I only crank it up to easy mode every now and then when I want to take a break from building.
I know it's probably "wussy" for some of you more hardcore folks out there, but it's the way I play the game, more like a sand garden.

I don't understand why you would need to panic when you saw a creeper near your base, unless your base is poorly constructed and allows baddies inside. They don't just blow up for no reason, if you aren't near them then they are literally no threat to anything.

I don't find it that hard to control myself. I've had the option to save myself a couple times but I always resisted taking it. Besides, my spawn point is never far away from my mine, so if I die down there I can easily get back to my items in time. Even if I lose my items by going into lava or something it's not that big a deal. I rarely carry anything I won't need and I'm always extra careful when carrying something valuable, like a diamond pick-axe, so I've yet to lose anything really important. If you're cautious and practical even when you die it's not a great loss.
When playing on my normal worlds, I use peaceful to regen health when I sleep. I only sleep every 2-4 nights, and when I do I usually only sleep half the night, and spend half mod hunting.
The infamous "peaceful mode" is known to inhabit the quiet jungles of the Settings Region. After it has chosen its victim, this mode deals damage by injecting cold poison into its victims. Many an adventurer has seen friends and enemies succumb to this vile monster. Only the hardcore are immune, whereas women, fruitcakes, and the Amish seem more susceptible to crave the "bite of death."
The first step toward quitting is admittance.
Then, rehab.
Finally, re-integration into society.
As always, there is the option of acceptance. Tell yourself, "This is how I am. I was born this way." And keep playing peaceful.

I don't think anyone would be that bored to make something so pointless.
