I miss alpha so much :'(
People were probably nicer back then because there were fewer of them and I guess a more tight knit community... I would give up all the diamonds I have ever mined to go back to alpha...
Honestly, no. While I did enjoy being totally new to the game, except for having watched a few episodes of Melek's let's play, I also enjoy looking back at it just as much.
It feels like many of you look back at the 'good old days' and get all upset by the fact that you won't experience it again, and I find that to be quite strange. I enjoy the feeling of nostalgia that looking back at my old screenshots gives me, and I'm like that with all kinds of nostalgia. It was a good run, but it can only last so long before you learn to enjoy minecraft purely for the creative and survival aspects of the game.

But maybe that's just me.
You're not alone mate, I feel the same about the past, doesn't matter if it's about games, movies, books or life itself.
I remember my first nights. I was so afraid of the monsters that I always stayed in my fancy dirt hut during night.
Although I was afraid, I also was excited about what they may look like, what they're doing, etc.
Ah, yes.
I missed the feeling of being new to something.
Clicking blocks repeatedly to try and break them.
Dirt huts.
Digging into the mountains.
Wood tools.

How do you get the dogs to fight eachother without some dog-on-player action?
...that sounds disturbingly sexual.
Well, I try not to include animals in my fantasies, but to each their own I guess. I won't stop you from having you kinky fun.
I read the entire wiki, watched the entire SeaNanners series, and watched every episode of X's Adventures before buying the game. Based on my experiences with other games though, I have to say yes. The sense of the unknown is what makes games great. Being completely lost without a clue as to what you're doing... It's fantastic.

By the way, the Minecraft world will now be known as "Arth".
I posted in another thread similar to this. I missed not knowing anything, having nearly no creativity, taking forever just to dig out a small room because I paused in between every block. I missed making ugly little huts which were worth more than a castle to me, and only to me. I remember my first creative server I played on with my friends. That was long before /Infdev/ ever existed and Notch was still working on (early) indev. I bought the game before farming came out, because I was so thrilled by the idea of having tools and having to collect stuff first. Those were the days.
One thing I miss most was the floating islands maps.
About the forum, I completely agree. The forums have changed since my first post, which is here viewtopic.php?f=35&t=17662
The people were nice and actually helped, instead of saying things like "Noob play on a real computer not linux", "sux for you", or something similar. That was also way before I learned how the forum worked so I was way to formal.
Thanks for all these, I never expected to get this many replies :biggrin.gif:
But one of my most memorable moments was my first night, I had no clue what coal was and had dug myself into a wall of a mountain. Pitch black, couldn't see a single thing.
I just dug and dug in a random direction. Eventually I popped out on the other side and into the arms of a spider D:
I feel like that. There was so much magic and simplicity in Alpha. I lived in a simple dirt hut which has turned into a massive castle. I didn't know everything there was to know. I was more content in a way.
I really like Beta, but it seems like the fight is over and I've beaten Minecraft in a sense.

The iteration of these lines brings gold;
The framing of this circle on the ground
Brings whirlwinds, tempests, thunder and lightning.
I wish there was a machine that could erase these kinds of memories. Only leave you with the idea that you might enjoy something. That way you can watch your favorite movies, play your favorite games, through the eyes of a complete newbie.
:smile.gif:
Very much this.... ;_; I want to re-experience Minecraft, Pheonix Wright, Shadow of the Collossus and many more games as if it was my first time...
That being said I'm still on my first minecraft world (joined before the biome and nether update). My stuff is still pretty simple, but pretty nice. I still go visit my first base sometimes, and I smile at the simplicity of it.
I have this desert world I'm gonna go start on soon, though. I want to make a kickass thieves hideout. :tongue.gif: If those pistons get added...I know exactly how to hide the entrance.

Enjoy written Let's Plays? My blog for them is right here:
I miss hiding out in my little cave in the side of the mountain.
I would watch all of the monsters roam, and as soon as I saw morning I'd carefully come out of my little house. Because I was so scared of forgetting my direction, my whole area is covered in torches. I put torches all over the mountain in front of me, which is now torn down and my house is there now.
I'd really like to see my world before I did anything to it, just for nostalgia.

Just no one call me " Rip C. ", got it?
