I wanted to point something out... I'm not trying to be all corrective and stuff, but someone mentioned that wolves should be able to jump 2 blocks high. Steve can jump 1 block high, and a block is one meter. Obviously, 2 blocks is 2 meters. It's somewhat not likely that wolves could jump 2 blocks high, given that not too many dogs can jump 6 feet in the air. However, I do hope that wolves can jump 2 blocks vertically, because otherwise their ability to follow players would be kind of bad :/
If wolfies make it to SMP, I sure hope that no noobs hoard all the wolves and have like a million, cuz of their uber-bone-stealing-out-of-chests-that-don't-belong-to-them tactics. AND THEN, the person would click on some guy if he made the hoarder mad. And then unleashed his wolfies' instinct to kill upon some random guy who is innocent. And Naut a griefer 28 raids moar chests until he is the server's noob raider.
If dogs are rare like spider jockeys and slimes I will be mad. There will be no reason to play it if they are that rare. And though for some reason multiplayer does not work. Maybe it is because of the computer I play on.
That would really suck if wolves were as rare as spider jockey's. I doubt it'll be like that though. The idea of getting wolves to kill all the , , , and off for my lazy ass is just kickass. The only problem I really forsee with that would be if poor old fido tries to kill a since it's ranged and the arrows tend to be a pain in the ass.

I don't know how many dogs you have owned in your life but I will tell you that from my experience, dogs can typically jump quite high. I have a ten pound yorkie mix which is a small dog and she can and will jump over baby gates which are over 3 times taller than she is. My other dog is a rather prolific jumper as well so to say a dog/wolf which in minecraft would be somewhere around a meter tall would be unable to jump twice their height strikes me as being a bit too skeptical, which is fine, I am all for skepticism, but I don't see this particular issue being unreasonable to obtain for a real dog in real life. That said, it's also just a game, like movies, part of their appeal tends to rely on the suspension of reality.
Also, is it Thursday yet? Actually, I want it to be Friday, I have that day off from work cause it's my birthday :biggrin.gif: /goes and grumbles about getting old.
My first thought
Wolvies = SO CUTE I JUST WANNA HUG 'EM!!!
also ACHIEVEMENTS FOR TEH WIN
when it comes out ima going to get them all first and pwn everyone.
my excitment is off the walls

Really? No dog you have can jump 6 feet. Dogs may be able to jump high, but 6 feet is around the average height of an adult male. That's like your little ten pound Yorkie Mix jumping off the ground straight up onto your dads head.

I had a little terrier thing (it's a mixed-breed of some sort) jump off the floor and nearly hit my chest while I was standing in the middle of the hall. I'm a little over 6' tall as a reference.

I've also never seen a cow jump 3 feet in the air, or a pig. I bet a pig could, though. But anyway, the point is it doesn't matter. All that matters is the game is better if they can jump that high, and it's not THAT unreasonable considering most of the time they'll use it to hop fences or follow you on uneven terrain.

Here is an example of a German Shepherd jumping a 7 foot tall wall. I've seen one clear a 15 ft wall, though they need a bit of a grip on the wall to get the whole way up.

Actually, the video you linked shows a German Shepherd scaling a 7 foot tall wall. He only appears to jump about halfway up to start. I doubt very much you'll find any videos of any dog actually jumping (rather than scaling) a 7 foot wall, but I'd love to see one if you can find one. :smile.gif:
Well, from everything I can gather, the world record dog jump is presently 5'6" so it's not THAT unreasonable to round up to 6 feet for the dogs in this game. Besides that, it's a game. If you want dogs to jump a realistic height go back to reality :tongue.gif:
Maybe, just maybe, because it is a "Beta 1.4 Update Thread"?
I mean...Isn't it supposed to point changes from one version to the other?
Also, this may not seem important to YOU...but, for people out there modding?
Or even, in my personal opinion, it may change a little bit...just a tiny bit...the way you play?
Or maybe not. The fact that the inventory key is closer to where your other fingers are located during gameplay is not important at all. For this, I believe he could make the first slot key binded to the "wake" button of our keyboard. That wouldn't matter anyway. Wouldn' it?
THE END

"FINALLY! public KeyMapping keyInventory = new KeyMapping("key.inventory", Keyboard.KEY_E);"
So, this should be implemented in 1.4.
"E" instead of "I" for the inventory access.
Also, Keymapping ftw
and why does this matter?
*coukeymappinggh*
