Recently took it upon myself to create a new singleplayer world after my favorite server decided to shut its doors. So, 1 week in so far, and I've also decided to ditch conventional houses and dig the inside of a giant mountain out to make my multi-level base.
Problem with all this? I suck at interiors at this scale. The area is 41x41 circular as seen below.
What I'm looking for is block combinations that look good for interior related things. I really like brickstone, grass, and oak wood. Below are some additional screenshots for reference and what have you.
Thanks!
edit: screenshots updated to creative world build replica of the area. Still looking for feedback to continue.
Planks, logs, and different stone blocks. Basically everything but wool, clay, and sandstone, and clay brick blocks.
That's pretty vague , I know; but there's tons of different combinations for interiors that would work great. In this situation I'd just try experimenting with a small area like people do with paint swatches to pick which paint they'd like to paint their walls with.
maybe for extra 'spice' make a huge squid aqauruim in the floor. Idk how you would get squids, but who knows. Maybe pick a color theme and go from there.
I would like to see some screenshots of what you pick and the finished product. I have a hollowed out mountain I have yet to do anything with myself and am getting inspired from all these ideas.
I'll be sure to post updates And actually as soon as I build myself a new computer (%60 of the funds are saved) I'll be livestreaming vanilla only via Twitch.
Meh, I actually like the default texture pack. And the problem I have with most "building / interior" idea / guide threads is the users use texture packs and it totally makes the information irrelevant to those who use default or other texture packs..
Personally, i think Sandstone goes well with Oak Wood Planks and (Clay) Bricks. Additionally, I think you should add flowers and/or water to your base to go with the grass, if you're going for that kinda feel.
Here's what I'm hoping my world will look like when I'm totally finished.
Looking good! I think putting slabs or stairs around the fountain would make it look nicer. Also, I would've just used Glowstone instead of the Redstone Lamps just because the levers would bug me that much : P.

I find the default textures the way to go for me. When I use other texture packs i quickly lose interest in the game.

Have you ever tried this texture pack before? http://resourcepack.net/pixel-perfection-resource-pack/ You should give it a shot, it's very well done and it's why i don't like the default textures at all anymore.
Why cant we just not have one? Just because you like them doesn't mean we have to.
