WHAZZ UP WIITH THAT?
what are my options?
This seems to be happening to quite a lot of people. Your only options really are to play offline and hope that Mojang gets their act together with their server infrastructure.

I made a particle accelerator out of raw and cooked ham, but all I ended up finding was the Piggs Bacon
I saw the update and figured I should check it out, so I deleted the .minecraft folder to have a clean install, downloaded the new launcher and it won't even connect to download the game heh.
Meh whatever, hadn't touched Minecraft for over 2 months now.

THIS is why multiplayer shouldn't depend on minecraft.net. Minecraft.net hasn't once lasted a month without having some sort of problem.
I was having the same problem so I booted up the old launcher as a test and it worked.
