I have a love-hate relationship with lava. I love it, and it hates me.
My first serious atempt at the game, I was so happy when I first found lava. I had plans, man. Then I tried to put it in a chest, and dumped it on myself.
Survived, though. I tried to get the lava back and clean up a bit, but ended up accidently dropping my bucket into the pool of lava sitting in my base. Then I'm pretty sure I fell in the lava.
Any interaction I've had with lava since has pretty much gone the same way, with the fiery death and loss of items.
I was destroying cobble at my incinerator, when i try to grab the last stack i took my 4 diamonds.. and you know.. i jumped to the incinerator and died..
When i first got the full game after playing the old sticklebricks version, i became confused as to how you gather materials!
i had 50 flowers and died in the night
(the reason for flowers is you don't need to hold the mouse down to get them!)
This pretty much an exact replica of my first time in minecraft.
I thought spiders were not passive (during the day) for maybe the first 30 days. The spiders were all right outside my house and I was nervous to leave my 5x5 room with no light or windows/doors. Then I met Peaceful mode.

In case you haven't realized yet: Notch decreased our hitting and placing reach by one block. What the ****??
[quote=]How will we be able to go on' date=' God damn him.[/quote']
Hmmm it would either be the time i accidentally caught 1 wood block on fire by having lava next to that completely burned my entire wooden mansion house down and i had to rebuild it.... (E.X.)
Or maybe that time i was diamond mining and drop'd in lava with 2 diamonds and 2 diamond picks................................................ and i even saw the lava before i fell in
well i was on my server making a greifer resistant home by spawning bedrock (id no. 7 if anyone cares) and i misplace some at the end. in the door way. meaning a big chunk of useless iremovable, bedrock.

Mining for two hours in a big cave system on SMP, not realizing mob spawners in SMP all show a pig, removing the torches and dying to a zombie. Lots five or six diamond, 2 stacks of redstone and countless amounts of coal and iron... plus a few buckets, wheat and saddles :sleep.gif:
Biggest fail for me was not realizing that fire could jump 3 spaces. Was right after Notch disabled leaf decay (after the SMP health update) - I, along with many people, I'm sure, got sick of all the leaves floating in midair, and threw some fire on it with flint and steel. Sure enough, the leaves were gone...along with half the damn forest because the fire jumped through the air to hit the tree adjacent, which lit up the entire forest.
I've actually done one worse than that, and my server op at the time did one even worse. Mine was on the server prior to that one - built before the Halloween update (when we all thought SMP health would make its dramatic appearance) and abandoned just before the real SMP health update. The op was playing with his abilities and made about a dozen trees grow out of nowhere, I decided to climb on top of one and let loose a single block of lava. Sure enough, the lava flowed (making an absolutely EPIC lava geyser) and lit all the trees on fire...then spread...and spread...and wound up lighting another player's wooden house on fire, though thankfully the op had an Extinguish command to make all the fire go out.
The same op, on the same server as the first one, managed to burn down roughly half the continent's worth of forest with a single block. He was up on a mountain, building some structure, and accidentally rolled his mouse over to a bucket of lava. The lava flowed down the mountainside, hitting one tree, setting off an entire forest. We couldn't actually go over there until it eventually burned itself out - the lag from about 300 trees burning at once was astonishing.

By small, do you mean young? Minecraft hasn't existed long enough to have such associative history.
I think it was meant colloquially, and in jest. "Yesterday, I fought my first creeper, I was younger then, bright-eyed, bushy tailed, I could have changed the world." "Now? Now, I'm a broken down old wool-herder, looking for a one way ticket out of this town on the back of a silver rush." More accurately,as in he's grown since then, not literally, but into a better player.
Well, one time I had just returned from a successful Diamond hunt and made a flint and steel. I heard that you could kill mobs with it so I went outside and looked for one. I found an (not) Innocent chicken clucking around. I try to light it on fire but it jumps out of the way and I accidentally light a block. Right under a tree of course. The tree catches fire and I lose a whole forest biome and gain a ton of lag. Never played on that world since.
My lamest mistake was hiding behind a Sheep when a couple Skeletons were chasing me in Survival Mode Test.
They were killed and converted to Skeletons within moments.. :<
It didnt set off any of the blocks on the inside, just the first blocks by the pressure plate.

I also thought flint was coal when I started playing.
