Punching a zombie pigman and taking every single iron ingot I had to make new gear to go back and get all my stuff and fight all of those zombie pigman. Lost all of my iron.
I deleted my very first world out of rage when I fell into a 1x1 pit of lava. In my defense, it was something like 5 years ago and I had the overly-aggressive mind of a prepubescent 12-year-old.
I still wish I had that world so I could look back at all the terrible choices that I made in it. They were... simpler times.

After five years of staying away from the MC Forums, I created this account just to post this idea I had:
Another noob mistake of mine... is putting some fire in a boiler in a Titanic I was building and not putting iron bars. I burnt down the Titanic I was building.
Letting my littlest brother play my hard-worked-on world, just to see my house, my stuff, and my player all destroyed when I get back. Also the first time I played Minecraft, I was just doing it in creative mode, so when I played survival for the first time, I couldn't figure out how to mine anything. After 4 MONTHS of playing I finally figured out how I need to HOLD the button down. And this is only 3 years ago. Now I'm and OK builder and pretty decent at PVP and stuff, so yeah...
Thinking that I had to press the button over and over again to dig things, rather than holding the button down...
This by far qualifies as, I think, my newbie-est newbie mistake. Well, aside from so often just blundering right into lava and not being quick to place cobblestone to block it.
This is a very reassuring thread to read -- even now, and I am no longer so much a newbie!
I had no idea what a bed was... died over and over and over in one night. i also tried to make a mansion on my first day. it wasnt finished by night and mobs got in...
There are the following I did when I was a noob in MC:
- Make a fireplace in my wooden house
- Making a squadrons of worthless things

You can just call me Canary.
How not to look like a total fool in the forum games
Playing with fire. I have burned down not just my own house, but a friend's as well, and part of a forest.
Sorry nTrud3r/Kuro
Walking outside at night instead of bashing my head repeatedly on a sealed dirt hole.

Mistaking a squid for a water enderman/spider. I couldn't move. Also "water endermans" scared me a lot. Then, night came and zombies spawned.
I just quit the game.
There was an edgy statement on "skeletons and zombies being undead humans" but I erased it lol
