So I had just caught on fire, which is never good, but luckily I always keep a bucket of water handy specifically for those unfortunate circumstances!
...except, of course, that I had decided to empty it out and fill it back up with more lava ten minutes ago. Cue a rather terrified noob at bedrock level trapped in a pool of freshly-dumped lava carrying a good dozen diamonds or so. And a diamond pickaxe, and a diamond sword. And some shiny black obsidian which he had been mining at the time. Not to mention the eggs.
The moral of the story was that you really shouldn't fight fire with fire. The worst bit? Before I died, I tried desperately to throw my pickaxe out of the fire. I missed the pickaxe and threw a piece of dirt, one of the only surviving items of the whole affair. Nothing diamond made it out.
I thought diamonds would look more <> not () so I thought they were emeralds. Being my first time playing I knew that gold was weak because it was a jewel or whatever so I made armor out of the "emerald" and in reality I really needed that to make a diamond pickaxe =(
