once there were monkeys then they split into 2 groups. the more Intelligent group are the more common humans, then the less Intelligent group are called trolls who have the body of a human but a brain of lower evolved monkey.
Was going to post the same thing. Indeed we need a way to grow flowers instead of waiting for them to randomly show up - which is incredibly infrequently.
Right now anyone who wants to do a big project is screwed and has to cheat.
I figure someone must have by now but I just thought of it. Did anyone go over flowers with a hoe to see if they drop any kind of seed, seems kinda obvious, so it probably has already been debunked.
Honestly, flowers should work according to Conway's Game of Life, with system updates taking place every morning.
I support this request.
How would the interaction be between different types of flowers?
I think it would be most interesting if all flowers where treated as one type for liveness (e.g. a yellow flower next to two live red flowers survives), but reproduction would randomly select the type from all types of neighboring flowers (e.g. a dead cell next to two live yellow and one live red flower could spawn as either a yellow or a red flower, but a dead cell next to three red flowers would only spawn red flowers).

Support the Allocator! Find my inventions such as my pressure plate removal detector on the About Me page of my profile.
I'm still looking for more feedback on my configurable Redstone Gate mod. All gates and common circuits (such as e.g. clocks, edge detectors, latches and Flip-Flops) in a single block.

If conway's game of life gets sufficiently large, then it grows without bound, which would be bad. Of course, there would be plenty of things that would impede growth (height difference > 1, snow, trees, sand, water, etc), but I'm not sure it would be enough. After a little bit of time, I think that all steppe regions would be completely invaded by them.
By the way, it would be possible to have more than 8 neighbors, because each column could have up to two dirt neighbors:
Still, it's close enough for making a mod. It would definitely be fun to experiment with.
Maybe next update there will be flower seeds.

Good that someone else also thought about this..
Flowers have to respawn, drop seeds or something..

I've thought for a long time that Conway's Game of Life would be an awesome mechanism inside MC. Thematically, flowers would be perfect.
Imagine a working calendar where each month was signaled by gliders made of flowers. Wow, that would be awesome :smile.gif:

But that would be really useful
