My apologies for the annoying black box around the viewable area. Compiled in Adobe Premier due to having to edit the video, and didn't realize the options weren't set properly.

Thanks for the secret base idea. I'm gonna use that so I don't get my stuff stolen/destroyed.
Slightly off topic here, but is there a way to prevent the light from being seen at the surface?

"Just because I'm paranoid, doesn't mean people aren't out to get me."
this would be even more epic in the nether, using a lavafall as a hidden base. Shame ghasts can see through lava...
I've actually thought of using 2 layers of signs... top one being lava, bottom being water.. So you drop through the lava, and if you get set on fire you immediately get put out by the water. You will still take some lava damage and I haven't tested how effective or dangerous this could be. Glad to see people are digging this though. Etho has been using it to make underwater missile (TNT) silos. He added a sort of "parascope" thing... Basically it's a ladder leading from one of his underground rooms up to a little viewing area at the bottom of the ocean enclosed in glass, with dirt on top so it's camoflaged. If you turn the lights out in the room below (by covering the ladder with an opaque block) it will make the viewing room completely dark but you can still see into the ocean. It's pretty badass. :biggrin.gif:
Edit: Another possibility, for true secret chests would be to place the chest like this:
Where = signs.
This way, to the naked eye it would appear that there is just a lava pit, but by standing on the side of the lava and aiming down, and right clicking, you could access your chest.

Just thought I'd let everyone know, my next tutorial will be an in-depth look at redstone variable delay timers for TNT cannons. These could, of course, be used for minecart systems also.

Yes. Simply make a dark room at the bottom with a ladder leading to to the next room of your base.. something like an airlock.
