This community is just terrible. It is like a stinking cesspool of whining and bitching. You either attack Notch, defend him, or try to appease both sides. On one side, they complain about FPS, bugs, features, lack of updates, or lack of testing updates before release. The other? The opposite of the opponent. This community, if I may say so, is absolute ****. Just so terrible, I'm suprised that the moderation is still sane. It is filled with nothing but whining, bitching little kids or no-life idiots who have nothing better to do but sit at their computers defending or attacking Notch. I almost regret calling myself a member of this community.
Here is what I propose. Rather than attacking Notch, help him root out the bugs and FPS issues. Rather than attacking the attackers, tell them the same thing. It would be a much better use of everyone's time and energy to help, rather than hurt, Notch's work. In fact, half of these FPS issues aren't even Notch's fault. Rather than run games on a toaster, buy a better computer. 90% of these bugs you whine about are 0.1% occurances, which could appear days, weeks, even months after the update that brought the bug. Know that Notch isn't omnipotent, and he can't forsee every single little bug that appears. This community, if it doesn't shape up enough and fast, will become one of the single worst communities on the internet, where people fear to post their opinion without being flamed or raged at.
But I agree with you. With less people complaining and more people trying to find bugs (because that is what we are doing) the game could progress faster.

but honestly, the commuinty is like this EVERYWHERE, even in the real world, I know its hard to deal with, but im hopping *crosses fingers* that the bitchy moaners stop making Beta thread soon(ish), although thats very unlikley.
So, what can we do about it - nothing, its impossible, all we must do is ignore the issue, and it shall leave, eventually.

Do you even read the forums or just skim through them. Most of your information, is completely your opinion.
A forum is open-discussion. This is called debating, aside from the individuals that always bring some horseshit. Also, this thread is a complaint thread on the complainers.
Now, back to what you wrote. There are 3 sides, that's correct, those who think Notch isn't doing a good job and those who worship him. Of course, there are those who are reasonable on both sides. I'm reasonable on both sides, however you look like you don't like the complainers.
I personally like everyone, unless you're one of those people who have your own opinion and think that is the only one that counts.
Here's one flaw. Only a few can help Notch and those few don't have any problems so we can't really find the problem. Those who actually do have work-arounds post them and they do work. Except, 75% of the minecrafters cannot even play the game due to FPS issues and disconnections.
We already narrowed down the lag. It's from Chunk Updates, and the leaf decay is the problem, along with world generating.
By the way, this is already one of the worst communities. Everyone thinks they are cool for bringing 4chan references.
I do agree with you for the most part, but if you want to see a suckass community, go to Roblox.
I still wish it was 3 years ago when the community was better. But I do agree with the poster. And HALF the forum spends their time on the Off-Topic section. I'll admit I fall into that however if I see something worthwhile getting into about the game then I will.

This community is definitely going somewhere, onto the pedestal for the biggest amount of trolling and stupidity in one spot in the whole internet :biggrin.gif:
Don't get me wrong, there are loads of sane and friendly people here, their voices just get drowned by the massive amounts of verbal diarrhea from the rest. I guess that happens when 800k people buy a game in a short amount of time. Sturgeon's Law and all that jazz.

I don't worship Notch, I hardly know him and I just got to playing and I think all these bugs associated with beta are just a natural part of the test cycle. If the game is going to get better, it's gotta go through changes that might make it worse first.
Also, NO ONE likes complainers. Especially on these forums. Beta does have flaws, but rather than the community offering constructive criticism, they make sarcastic remarks such as "I love the new slideshow mechanics!"
I'm not on the side of the complainers because they are pretty much just whining and not offering anything.
I've seen one topic where someone actually posts the problems in a clean list and specs of their computer, something that could actually be useful.
The community was great before the whole world caught storm of it all. I just stopped posting and started lurking.
Just deal with it man, I feel your pain. The community won't grow or return back to how it was any time soon because theres a constant influx of new players. Minecraft is a simple game, with barely a learning curve. This means the community is more broad. There's great people here, like some of the mods and a lot of the modding community, but there's also tons of not-so-amazing people who just want to be a part of something great.
Just deal with it for now, if you stick around long enough the dust will settle and it should get a lot more bearable around here. Weather the storm, I always say.
And to the guy above me that's saying how it was great 3 years ago, the forums aren't even a year and a half old ._.
Terrible communities are a byproduct of the internet.
The OP doesn't understand the internet. Obviously.
OP, in essence you've become what you hate. Nice try.
you are absolutely right, it should be
"Terrible communities are a byproduct of humanity"
It's not like its completely different in real life, they are just not as open about it :smile.gif:
But if they're human communities they're not a byproduct, they're just a product. The internet allows for anonymity, which allows everyone to be an asshole and get away with it.

I haven't been on this forum for particularly long, but I really don't see anything wrong with what you said. Every other topic is filled obscenities against Notch or other people. I know I'm not exactly contributing much but it's difficult to do so. There needs to be some more limits here because honestly, the place is too lax. I don't see much changing until some rule changes are taken against the issues.

And here is what I propose: A complaint section for the forum. That way the mods have an excuse to remove the flood of bitching from my sight. Regardless of whether or not you agree with the bitchers of the defenders one fact can't be denied, it difficult to locate interesting threads when so many of these are just raging spamfests.
On a secondary note: one of the reasons I bought Minecraft is because I have a crappy computer and it seemed to be one of the few good games I'd be able to play on it. To be 100% honest I pirated the game first so that I could confirm playability. I got it, it worked great, so I bought it. My biggest fear for Minecraft is that the finished game will be much more of a resource hog than it already is. Hopefully I will have a new graphics card soon... my current one is 7 years old.

I can;t stand "OMG NOTCH MY GAME IS NO WORK!!!!111"
That just makes me mad.
On the other hand I can't stand the
"Notch made minecraft he can do whatever he wants", people. They are just as bad.
Me I try to praise notch when he deserves it and get angry at him when he deserves that as well.
