I have no clue if they have been brought back, however i've yet to see anyone remember or mention this.
Back in Invdev there was a super rare chance for Brick Pyramid's to spawn... In alpha there was no known sightings of them anymore.
There is proof of them from the past there are some videos with them having existed.

"For a brief time, huge brick pyramids were a rare structure that could spawn in an old Infdev version. See this video, this video and the end of this video to see the pyramids and exploration of them. The pyramids were completely solid; they had no inside rooms. A strange quality about these pyramids is that if one dug under it, a layer of dirt and stone extended under the pyramid. This suggests it spawned right on top of the terrain instead of being a complete pyramid with the bottom parts underground. It is unknown if pyramids can still be found in present Alpha versions, but reports in finding pyramids are dying down, so it's a safe assumption that they are no longer included. "
Its obvious, nothing "rare" that its just flat out obvious in the files is what notch was talking about. There have been mention of people seeing special stuff spawning, but everything has been proven fake pretty much.
Please note i'm not saying i've found one, just a theory/concept no one has brought up. And since it existed in the past, I would with some reason think it would be something secret he would add back.
Hmm...it DOES seem like an interesting theory, but I would guess no. Lately Notch has been making the game more and more realistic (mostly biomes) and if Notch WERE to add something like this, it would probably be mob villages or ancient ruins. And he's been talking about adding mob villages, so I doubt it would be the incredibly secret super rare thing.
It just doesn't seem like these pyramids would fit in with Minecraft anymore. Would still be cool to find one though :tongue.gif:
That's one of the problems I have with biomes, some of them are small. I think they should all be huge and have lots to explore. I also think the water level should go down a bit. That way we can have higher mountains and deeper valleys. But yeah, I guess a pyramid would fit in alright. At least we won't miss it if we see it :tongue.gif:
