Hmm, I concur. I withdraw my previous statement about this idea being suited to Single Player. However, my point of player immunity to slavery still stands, as does my Gnoll idea, and by extension, removing the Slavery aspect altogether.
So Back to the question. What would you do if you got enslaved your self.
I believe I have answered that question by stating that players would not be able to be enslaved. However, if I were to become enslaved then I would indeed fight my master for freedom, usually by causing a rebellion.
In my opinion slavery can be just as bad if not worse than murder and drug usage, I would rather be killed instantly than be tortured and forced to do work by someone. But this idea isn't even really slavery int he first place so all these extremely long debates are pointless, it is just making the natives like you, although I don't think someone would fight to their death because you gave them food.
Just because you allow someone the option to not be a slaveowner, doesn't mean it isn't promoting slavery. I'm not sugar coating anything, you say something in Mincraft it raises the awareness to the subject but people are being taught about it in school, all adding slavery does is allow kids the opportunity to actively participate in a questionable activitiy.
Another thing you argued about was that they aren't people, they are AI. This argument is ridiculous. The AI represent things in real life or hypothetical beings like goblins and such that could be smart enough to have freewill.
The problem with this isn't the activity or the fact that the kids aren't actually enslaving anything real, but that the idea of slavery and their psychological participation in their acts which are dehumanizing.
I'm glad someone can make a few valid points but this is still a horrible pit trap of idiocy.
About the whole, well there are worse things out there argument, two wrongs don't make a right, just because one thing is worse than another or a more pressing subject doesn't mean that the other should walk away without coming under scrutiny as well.
i think that if we implement gnolls (i like this idea alot), then they should come in various colors. some brown, some tan, some maybe even reddish. this would prevent one "race" of gnolls from existing ingame, thus prevents any form of racism.
i think the colors of gnolls should stay consistent in a tribe. so one tribe would have only brown gnolls; another would have red ones, and so on...
also, i like the idea that the gnolls would be near-hostile by nature. if they see you, they wont attack; but if you attack one of them or you hold a sword (or any weapon), then they will become aggressive and attack.

This isn't about racism, yet again this is about the fact of slavery. Hypothetical slavery, yes, but still allows for the psychological participation which is still ****ing taboo.
Slavery is when you force someone to work against their will, if you are giving them food they are volunteering to help with is not slavery in the first place. But like I said before, I don't think that they would sacrifice themselves for you if you gave them a few peaces of food, I think that they could add a friendship bar or something them makes them want to do more for you.

Read the first post much? Or the title?
I did read the first post and the title, and it may be called "Enslave" the natives but it really isnt if you are giving them food to make them want to work for you.
you win them over to your side, its not slavery. they want to work for you!
@Dummy, we understand where you are coming from, but we are now going away from slavery. that idea has died, so you dont need to keep harping on how much this teaches kids to enslave others. we are trying to make it more peaceful than that!
I think that there should be a friendship bar and every time you do something nice for them it goes up, every action costs friendship and slowly over time the bar goes down, If you are mean to the people then they will turn hostile, some villages can start hostile and some can start friendly.
in all honesty, that idea sux! tell Notch to use gnolls cuz that's totally original. Pig men would just be stupid (cuz it'd be odd eating grilled pork in front of the natives).
Perhaps Rana could be brought back, or Notch could introduce a new mob, such as Gnolls* - Humanoid Hyena Hybrids. Perhaps they are mostly hostile and keep to themselves unless you befriend them, removing the 'slavery' aspect of the concept altogether.
Dummy, old bean, it is commonly wise to read through the entire discussion and see how it has changed before attempting to resurrect old, dead debates, for then it makes you look the fool, good intentions or not. The debate truly has died, for we are now proposing scrapping the whole slavery idea. It is a concept commonly called a compromise.
The Gnolls idea, in opinion, should have its own thread started, which overall removes the whole argument about slavery. Zoythrus, if you would care to discuss these ideas with me over PM before we post a thread, we may have a nice concept underway.

Should I make a new thread about this?
+1 to this idea (mostly because i was just about to say it!)
