Tell me. Does clay look Blue in any of those pictures? Clay is naturally Redish or Tan. When burned, it turns into full red color. Notch needs to change the clay texture to be red. Blue clay can be for something else. Maybe its not even clay.

The clay is more or less a gray color, not a blue.
The in-game clay looks ALOT like that Quaternary clay which is in the one photo.
No, it is definitely a light blue-grey.
So's the quaternary clay where it's reflecting the light of the sky. The minecraft clay looks enough like clay to me, it just doesn't look like the sort of clay that you'd make bricks out of.
