To cure a zombie villager you need to throw a splash weakness potion at him, then right click with a golden apple. Then wait like 5 minutes for the change to take effect.
What I am suggesting is, after you do all of that stuff listed above, right click the zombie villager with a poisonous potato and the change will take effect immediately.
Why?: Well zombies drop normal potatoes so it does make sense
If the sun is about the come up, you have little time to spare and don't want the zombie to burn.
Poisonous potatoes have no uses yet, so let's give it this useful feature!

That's essentially like me saying:
There should be sharks, they shake palm trees until pigs fall out and the pigs will steal your apples and hide them in waterfalls. It makes sense because sharks live near islands where palm trees might grow.

well I didn't do that good of a job explaining it, and it kind of is hard to explain what I mean by it.
Do you really think that right clicking a zombie with a freaking posionous potato.. would cure him? I really hope you people here at the suggestions forum are having a special kind of humor.
This doesn't make any sense at all. Beyond that, saving a Zombie Villager is supposed to be challenging, because it enables you to create a village literally anywhere on the surface of the overworld. That is why it requires something made from brewing, an expensive item, and time. Just planting some potatoes and hoping for a poison one to drop defeats the purpose of that.
Besides, if a player wants to save a Zombie Villager, and is dedicated enough to get these items and wait for a Zombie Villager to appear at night near where you want it, you think they would be smart enough to make a simple dirt cage to keep them safe from burning. You know, a 1x1x3 hole that you can push the Zombie into, use the items to save it, then put Dirt on the roof for 5 minutes. Because in the time waiting for night, I think you have 4 seconds to spare to do that.

But, this is a pretty good idea.
So, Support!
- Makes an 2x2 dirt house and let him inside it.
- ???
- Profit.
Of cooourse. Let make sponges spawn Pokémon, too !

Sorry for that, but i really can't understand your logic. Please make it more "clear", but for now, no support.

sponges are unattainable in survival though.
His post was dripping with sarcasm.
Like what's mentioned above, just box it (the villager) in and build a roof over it's head.
It doesn't really take THAT long for it to change.
