Magma Monstrosity- The nether, but with more UMPH!
Have you ever gone to the nether to get lava? What are the main pains? Ghasts, zombie pigmen (if you hit them, so they can be avoided) blazes, and wither skeletons, not to forget magma cubes. However, I propose a new nether mob, that i currently call the Magma Monstrosity. The name is really just an idea, and could easily be subject to change. Here's the idea- A naturally spawning 'tiny' golem like thing, made from magma. The MOB:
The "Magma Monstrosity" is 1 block tall, and 3/4 a block wide- it is around 1/3 a block from back to front- If you've ever heard of the Minions mod, the Model would be somewhat like that, but with a more "Hunched" look, and the head being lower on the body. The texture looks like a slightly solidified lava, with Black "Obsidian like" spots where the lava has cooled. The head has eyes that are brighter than the magma on the rest of the body- Here is a model, but i would like someone to make a texture for it.
*As you can see, very small, and very "muscular" looking.
STATS:
The Monstrosity has 8 health (four hearts) and does 2 health (one heart) to an unarmored player. There is a 40% chance the Monstrosity will light the player on fire for a second or two. They are slightly faster than a zombie, but not to the extreme of those cute (eh?) little things that are baby zombies.
BEHAVIOR:
Here's the kicker- A Monstrosity can spawn rarely, in the way a pigman spawns, but more at a rate between how often a wither Skele. spawns in a fortress and that of a zombie pigman spawns in general, so, under regular spawning, not that common- also, there is a rare chance (around that of a chicken jockey spawning) that a M.M. will spawn riding a medium or small magma cube, called a "Magma Jockey", but as i said, VERY rare. However, they have a trick up their sleeve- If, say, you were building a, well, cobble bridge over a mass of lava, there is a chance they will spawn in lava, and either thing could happen, depending on if it's possible to code- A- while, in lava, they have enough jump boost to jump out of the lava and up a block, or B-they can just normally jump that high. So, players will have to be cautious when collecting lava- however, as long as you build a bridge 2 blocks above the lava, you'd be ok, otherwise you run the risk of being throw off into the searing liquid.-For a death noise, I was thinking the sound of extinguishing lava.
Now, for the drops-0-1 obsidian (by the time you're in the nether, obsidian shouldn't be as valuable, and it's a rare drop (I know that's not a good excuse, but together it is easily balanced, just like skeletons dropping good bows very rarely)1-3 Netherack (Could imply that is how lava cools in the nether, and it's not a bad drop, either.)XP wise, they drop 2/10 of a lvl 0 Bar.Please, leave your opinions below- I'd be happy to discuss issues or other concerns. SUPPORTER IDEAS:
Boltreon's Lantern idea using monstrosities as the light:
Nice idea!
However, I would like an addition to this. The addition is that you can make a Lantern Frame like this:
O I O
I G I
B B B
O= Nothing
I= Iron Ingot
B= Iron Block
G= Glass Pane (Any color)
You can then cage a Magma Monstrosity using the lantern frame. It then becomes a Magma Lantern, which looks like a lantern frame but with a Monstrosity in it. It lasts for 3 Minecraft days. (The lantern frame lasts forever, but the light dies because the Monstrosity is exhausted.)It emits light depending on the color of the glass pane. I know it uses colored light, rewriting the game engine but c'mon. Anything is possible. Another of his ideas, a Passive gem, that on a cooldown can de-agro things like zombies for a short time- hard to get, little uses, pretty much in an extreme situation:
Using Infused Quartz(lava Crystal), you can make a Passive Gem like so:
IQ I
QEQ
IQ I
Q= Infused Quartz
E = Emerald
There are 5 uses per Passive Gem. Passive Gems can de-aggro an aggravated mob. Each use comes with a cooldown of 1 Minecraft Day.The Passive Gems does not affect boss mobs, neither do they not affect neutral mobs such as wolfs, iron golems, snowman, etc.
OPTIONAL IDEAS:
#1- Monstrosities drop 0-1 LAVA CRYSTALS which can be crafted like a clock (with gold, and the crystal replacing the redstone) which will point you toward the nearest nether portal OR the last one you came out of.*more optional ideas coming soon*

I don't really think we need any more hostile mobs, more passive mobs or pets if anything.
I also don't really see the point in this, apart from it dropping (possibly) a piece of obsidian, which also doesn't really make sense, since you need 10 obsidian to get to the Nether in the first place.
The mob drops are a bit, um, not so attractive. U already said that obsidians aren't gonna be as valuable, and netherrack can be found pretty commonly(and there's little use for netherrack). Perhaps some more valuable drops that can only be retrieved from killing the seep.
Anyway, nice lava mob idea. I think it's cool to have some lava mobs in the nether. and when i first read the topic i misread seep as sheep, lol.

It's more of a "wake up call" And is pretty much a small "golem like" thing that spawns out of lava. I respect your opinion.

The idea is just a way to get oby, after it's really valuable. I was thinking of blaze powder, but then that makes blazes not as good. If you have any ideas for this, please tell me, I'd be happy to consider them!

COnsidering the lamp idea is SORT of like a pet, either way, I know what you mean, I will be brainstorming.
I Believe I should add a new drop, any idea of what? I was thinking of a "Fiery crystal", which could be made with gold (like a clock) with the crystal instead of redstone, to make to make a portal compass, to show where the nearest portal is. What you think?
Call it a 'Magma Monstrosity. *Magnificent*
'Actually, don't.
'Lava Golem?'Hmmmm... A bit generic'
Magma Monster?'On a roll, eh? =P
Fire Golem?Lelz
Burny Bad Guy?Ok now, I think magma monstrosity sounds good...
Fiery Thingy?
UPDATE- Changed the name form Magma Seep to Magma Monstrosity. Added some new ideas form the comments, and added a model I made.
I'd love some feedback on that model, and that would show if I should develop the idea further.
*Update-If this topic gets buried, I will start a new one, I will stick around this one, to see if it attracts any attention.
I just love the idea of so unsuspecting player bridging across lava, and then he/she hears a weird dripping noise behind him/her, then getting pushed off, or if they noticed it, had a chance to kill it and claim a reward.

Thanks! (looks at notebook) had the idea after looking at some google images of golems...
