This is NOT a tweak for all worlds, simply a new gamemode similar to Hardcore, where you could ONLY have access to it by creating a world with it activated, such as, you could not switch to Realism Gamemode on a Survival, Hardcore or Creative Gamemodes. It may be a fun experience and not something that would be something to put lots of work into, and it may have the following features:
-Overcook(Negative effect): Fuel will always be on, regardless if the item is cooked or not, this will only effect food items. If the food item inside of the furnace is cooked another round(Arrow fills up again), then the item will become slightly burnt, where it will heal less hunger(1/4 less). Another round cooked will make it even more cooked, where it will heal even less hunger(1/2 less total). Two more rounds, it will be fully burnt. Where it will heal no more. Now, I know what you are thinking, "What about the other food items pending to be cooked?", I kind of thought over this. Furnaces would have two output slots, one for the overcooked items and one for the pending items. Everything would be cooked at the same time. As one item is getting cooked, another is getting burnt. Hoppers would take both. Burnt items would stay in the second slot. Now, there would only be one burnt item, and all cooked food would share it. Like a regular furnace, you can only cook one type of food at the same time until you take the food out of the first slot.
Overcooking would give the player a sense that they would have a responsibility to take their food out before it burns after being in the furnace so long.
-Downing a Tree Entirely(Positive effect): Chopping a log will take down every log above/connected to it. Maybe leaves for the specific tree. Saplings and apples would have a chance to come down with the logs. It would take a longer time the more connected to the stump that you would be chopping(Just so you can't take down an entire large Jungle Tree in one short swing). Now I know there is a mod for this called Treecapitator, and it sounds exactly like it. I don't know how to make it any different but fair at the same time.
No more floating trees.
-Putting blocks underwater no longer create air spots(Negative effect): Instead of putting down a torch underwater and creating a little air pocket, the water would stay and the torch would just fall down as an entity altogether. Spamming this will just repeatedly drop torches on the ocean floor. This will apply to doors and redstone torches.
Air is hard to come by down here.
-Fire only effects flammable blocks(Positive effect): Only wood and other flammable materials will have a fire on them. Fire blocks will no longer be on dirt and stone blocks during a forest fire.
-Lava doesn't just burn flammables, but destroys them upon contact(Negative effect): If a lava has touched a wood block, the wood block would burn AND be destroyed.
Any suggestions for the Realism GAMEMODE would be helpful. Remember, this won't effect normal Survival, Hardcore and Creative worlds. You HAVE to create a new world, set it to Realism gamemode and start the world.
Ah yes, the monthly Realism suggestion to be flamed to oblivion.
Ok, first off, for an entire gamemode, this has little no content. 5 different mechanics? Sheesh this would be small for a mod.
Overcooking? No. This is a pointless feature that would add annoyance rather than difficulty. this would destroy the ability to multitask in Minecraft, since instead of building houses while stuff cooks, you have to watch and remove each individual item that cooks. Mass smelting would be a nightmare.
Downing a tree? Nu-uh.
This doesn't add realism too much. You don't chop a tree and it becomes usable log segments. Plus wouldn't this make the game a little... easy?
No more air spots? Wait... torches don't make air spots, they get destroyed instantly already.
but i'd much prefer the removal of partial blocks no creating air spaces in normal Minecraft.
Fire only effect flammable blocks.
Fire only appears on non-flammable blocks because something flammable is on fire near by or you caugh in on fire with flint and steel. Fire doesn't spread on non-flammable. It's not unrealistic that fire appears on non-flammable blocks. It doesn't burn up the block. It doesn't last on the block.
Lava destroys flammable blocks on contact?
This makes no since. Are you sure you're thinking the right realism? Sure, maybe wool would instantly be consumed by lava, but not wood. Wood IRL still takes a bit to burn when in contact with lava., just like in Minecraft. lava is just a fiery liquid, not an all consuming acid.
Yay another thread suggesting realism, and like unilegger said, just 5 mechanics? that is not enough, besides they are more of a nuisance than a challenge

I can't say I don't like some of these ideas. The torch one especially; it makes Water Breathing potions useless. I am rather confused about the lava one though; surely this would make the life of a griefer so much easier. As Unilegger has said, lava is not an acid; it is just very hot rock.
I do rather like the overcooking idea but I feel it would only work if the items were not stacked or had a different GUI.
A little correction here: they actually do make temporary air spots. Before they are destroyed, they stay on the block for a brief second. If you then have your face directly against that block, you can take a breath, enough to fill the oxygen bar again.
You're saying that a new gamemode should REMOVE A BUG?
Wow. Let me try. Pesticide gamemode - all bugs are fixed and Minecraft is perfect.

Why Minecraft mobs should NEVER have multiple attacks:
- No other PC mobs do. - Mob behaviour is intended to be simple.
Why you should NOT name new "special ability" weapons as "XXX Swords":
- No other swords have special abilities. - Make a new kind of weapon.
