Well, the name pretty much says it all. The ability to throw blaze rods and have them act like glow sticks. Might be a bit similar to Terraria, but hey, a new fun use for blaze rods would be quite cool in my opinion. For the information standard, they would act as an entity until they come to a complete stop or get pummeled into a block, and when that happens they would become a torch-like block. It would have a light level of 15. It would also be shootable from dispensers and will activate pressure plates. When interacting with water, they would flow through the water until they came to the end of the stream, where they would stick to the block they stop at. I think its a pretty nice idea, but thats my opinion, and I suggest you tell me yours.
2 years ago, people were really anticipated for the implementations of lanterns. These lantern would behave just as your "glow sticks" would. However, that year, Notch made an announcement: He tried to implement this, but it was too laggy.

Of course, this could be a bit destructive on the frame rate, but you could alternatively have it so you throw the blaze rod and have it stick and light up to the block it hits, similar to the moon worm queen in the twilight forest mod.
Ah, if that's the case...
it's a really expensive torch?
Yeah, still No support.
Considering the excess blaze rods after farming blazes in a blaze farm, blaze rods seem more abundant than torches. Plus, is would look awesome.
P.S.-yes, i just used P.S. Oh yeah, I doubt that when notch said that lanterns would act like glow sticks, I doubt that he meant that you would throw them at walls.
Instead, they should make it so torch items light up the way, without having to place them.
There are many mods that do this, and if you have ever seen any of them, it does at times produce a noticeable amount of lag.
If you want to download one of these mods, go ahead, I wouldn't be surprised if it never got added to the actual game, so might as well use mods as a compromise.
I don't see any reasons why not, since you've invalidated every argument I've seen. When the blaze rod sticks, is it a block or an entity? How do you pick it back up? Or does it just disappear and give the block a light value?

Your idea lacks details such as those mentioned in the above post.
eg. Would you pick it up when you walk near it or would it stay there? How much light will it produce? Is there a chance of it breaking? What happens if it goes into water? Will it go through portals?

Don't argue with idiots. They bring you down to their level and beat you with experience.

Horribly sorry, you are both correct, I really should have been more specific. I added more info to the post. Also, for portals, since every single entity I know of can go through portals, I think the answer is pretty obvious, but thats actually quite a cool idea. Being able to easily change the nether would be quite cool and useful if you wanted to activate a pressure plate or something.
For one simple and obvious reason.
