But still, it's hard to find a village and give it an emerald so it can mail 2 things for you. Maybe minecarts with chests and a craftable item called the "Mail Tube" can mail it?

I once heard someone say you could fight off the Ender Dragon with sticks. He was the smartest person I have ever met.
Oh no, that is only if you do not have a postbox. You can lead villagers around by holding emeralds. Thus, you can take the postman to a postoffice you have built. It will detect the postbox and stay around that area.
Rather than a postman villager, post golem?
Seriously though, you expect EVERY PERSON on the server to have their own villager? Even If there are shared post offices, it's not easy to lure mobs anywhere, when they keep on losing focus.
A post golem, even if expensive would fix this. Maybe a pumpkin as a head, and 2 lapis blocks as a body (because the post villagers are blue) Also another use for lapis.
(Not that I'm complaining about lag, but it's not only a few extra mobs. It's also exploring to find a village, and all the chunks generating.)

I have a new account called "Mushroomsock" now, so please do not send me PMs.
Well, we should address the cause, not the symptoms. Thus, mojang should improve the luring AI to make them follow the player better.
True, but at the same time it isn't the best move to make a suggestion rely on another suggestion or something Mojang should do, even if it is fairly obvious they should do it.

Well, you COULD potentially use minecarts to transport villagers too.
Not everyone has to have a personal postman. If they live close enough to others, they could share one. They could have a postman villager instead and pay an emerald. The idea of a postal golem is frankly... rather odd. You have a snow golem which shoots snowballs, iron golems which kill zombies and... a postal golem which delivers letters.
Another thing about luring villagers is that you can use a lead on a villager as long as someone else has the trading gui open. This means you can easily lure a villager wherever you want if you're on a server-the only place this would be useful anyway.

Every time you post a question without first consulting the wiki, I die a little inside.

Postal golem doesn't fit with the other golems eh? Well this idea doesn't fit with the majority of the game. A game of mining, spelunking, building, enchanting, brewing, adventuring, danger, dragons, magical contraptions, fishing, fighting, and... mail delivery! For multiplayer only! The only benefit of this complicated mail system is the long distance mailing but the whole idea of travelling far and wide to deliver some items is much more close to the theme of the game, so I say no support.
Well, thats fine. Although, apparently people still think this is Multiplayer only...
Well, it is fairly inconvenient to use for single player. In multiplayer you can rely on other people having a Postal Villager around if they use the feature, and you only really need one by your area if you send a lot of mail.
But on single player if you are going to use these to send packages back to your box from long distances you will personally need to drag or somehow move a Postal Villager to every place you are going to send mail from frequently. So if you have a small base a couple thousand blocks away from your main one you will need to find a Postal Villager and station him at that base. Have a mine a thousand blocks away from that? You need to breed Villagers until you get another Postal Villager and move him to your mine. It would be easier to just make Ender Chests and empty the one by your base regularly into a treasure room.

British? Well I suppose I did model the system slightly on the Royal Mail postal system...
Thanks for the support! I appreciate it! And thanks for the constructive criticism! I appreciate it and will try and act upon it.
