This suggestion makes mining more cave-y.
What this suggestion does is it adds particle that fall from blocks when there is an explosion on the surface, or someone falls from a great height. An example would be standing in your bunker, and debris is falling from the ceiling while a ghast slowly mines its way in. The debris is simply aesthetic. A fall of debris would also be natural at random intervals in caves and some times the Nether. The debris also has the texture of the block it fell from, like falling particles.

Before you judge a man, walk a mile in his shoes; after that who cares? He's a mile away and you've got his shoes!
Its very interesting, but it seems like this is basically falling particles. Maybe they could implement falling particles to do what you say. Good idea!
I think this would work best if the particles only go as deep/far as you can hear the explosion. Otherwise it would be confusing. Other than that, I think this would be a nice addition to natural blocks like dirt and stone. (The particles wouldn't make as much sense falling from wool blocks.)

I believe when you fall on wool blocks in the snapshot they make particles too. I need to check.

Oh, well that's odd. But I can live with it.
Anyways, what if debris fell from nearby explosions, not just explosions from overhead? I think that would look just as appropriate. Maybe there could be more debris when the explosion is overhead though.

"On a scale of one mile to Lord of the Rings, how far did you walk today?"
Maybe you should hear a sort of sound like small rocks falling whilst the explosion.
