I know every forum on any game has their cockamamie suggestions that we all know. Dragons, Emerald swords and so on. I know the suggestions of how the eggs work and Dragons being rid able can be immensely overpowered but I know their is a way it can work.
Though Not dragons, reading this Made me think truly how a dragon could "Balanced"
The magic word. Balance
Id like to discuss the possibilities as id like to suggest a Proper dragon/Egg suggestions.
1. I was thinking maybe when the Dragon dies it be a cool effect if they add an effect of 2 - 5 Particles slowly falling into the end portal back home. and i was thinking those particles become the Small dragon bosses that can add more to the game after its done.
2. Another possible thought was if one were to leave the dragon egg with should just hatch another Enderdragon. I don't see much fault in this really as it could help with servers when someone wants to fight another dragon.
3. An extension to part 1. a Change to biome generation would be in order for this one as i maybe jumping the shark here. [Feel free to tell me] i would be interesting when one starts a new map that 2 - 5 Smaller Pillars of Obsidian form. Like a single block thick and a Entity that is a variation to the ender crystals. the 2 - 5 dragons will be separated 1 to each pillar and the dragons will be according to there biome they spawn in.
Like a tiaga or ice plains and You get a ice dragon and so forth with other Biomes.
The Dragons
Now here's were we get into rough territory. and things tred the Lines of Op and Amazing!
i'l go over each One, Color, AI and so forth.
The Red [Fire] Dragon
Spawns: Forest, Desert, and Plains.
Health: 120 As a Boss, 40 When Tamed.
AI:the basic Dragon Boss. It flies Around the Pillar and will Fly down to attack the Player(s). Once around half health the Dragon will shoot Fire Balls and fly down more.
The Green [Forest] Dragon
Spawns: Swamp, Jungle, and Extreme Hills.
Health: 130 As a Boss, 45 When Tamed.
AI: a Land based Dragon that can Fly in the air but prefers land. It Moves at a steady Pace towards players and like the wither, can break block making a crunching noise as if its destroying the swamp or jungle. But it can only destroy generated blocks and Not Placed blocks to prevent it running through peoples houses. when half health it picks up the pace it runs. [This should be toggle -able]
The Light Blue [Ice] Dragon
Spawns: Taiga, Ice Plains
Health: 120 As a Boss, 45 When Tamed.
AI: A slow Moving Dragon that is immune to Arrows or projectiles. Its more land Based and shoots Large Snowballs that that Induce slowness while it tries to hit you. Once Half Dead the Dragon will fly shooting Snowballs faster and attempt to land on players that does massive damage. when it does its air stomp it leaves it open to attack.
The Blue [Water] Dragon
Spawns: Ocean
Health: 110 As a Boss, 35 When Tamed.
AI: Being The only swimmer This is a Boat Battle! The Monster even given its size cant destroy boats. rather it will hit the player through the Boat. It will Dive under the dark waters and come up from the bottom. Once half dead the Dragon will swim around the players and randomly strike. Muh like a cobra, but if Blocked it leaves the monster open for an attack.
What if we Don't want to Fight These Monsters?
I did some massive thinking on this because these Beasts are quite dangerous! And if one doesn't want to fight the Ender dragon, They don't go to the end. Don't want to fight the wither, Don't Build him. For these guys all One has to do to prevent there creation and spawning it to destroy the core's on top of those pillars before you fight the Ender dragon. That's were they spawn so if its gone there can be no dragon.
What about maps Before this Update? Or if I reconsidered fighting them?
Simple! A Dragon Core. 1 Emerald + an Eye of ender and You got a dragon Core! Head to the end, Ender Dragon Their or not, throw the core Like a Normal ender eye and it Bursts into dragon particles and it will randomly generate Pillars in the over world, Creating dragons.
How would i track a Dragon once they spawn? They could be anywhere!
Simple again, In the over world the Dragon core when thrown Flies towards the nearest dragon on the map!
This can also be useful for those who want to track the pillars to prevent there spawning.
What do we get out of these Dragons?
Two Choices. a Tameable Companion! [and now were in the land of Absolutely No!]
or You can kill Them to Gain an interesting weapon and an Extra Addition to Beacons.
How Taming Works
Seeing how these are Very Volatile Beasts simply throwing bones or food wont work. Dragons in legend thought to be aggressive beasts, then often afterwards seen as compassionate so a show of friendliness is needed. Your going to need to Fight these monsters but to tame them they need to be about Half way dead. You will notice there actions change as i have noted. once half way dead splashing them with a potion on healing will make them question you. They obviously will continue to attack but if You heal them to were they have more then half health they will Go neutral. If you right click it you will have to break it like horses but more dangerous. Trying to much over and over again will make them aggressive but feeding them cooked or raw meat will make them calm again. Eventually they will become docile and yours and a saddle can be placed.
Ok tell me how this Dragon isn't Over Powered?
In boss Form yes its a Strong adversary but once tamed it is another ally.
-It wont fight for You [Its not a dog]
-if some one other then its master attacks it it will maul them however.
-It doesn't fly Infinitely. Rather It has Large Jumps and Glides down. Its a great Tool for Traveling mountains but its On land ability is quite slow.
-In can be leashed.
-It will Have a tendency too attack animals. [So it has its flaws if you have a farm]
- when the Player is riding the dragon and its hit by another player it wont react. [as to prevent this beast being a Great shield]
Basically you have a huge aggressive Lizard, yes it allows you to ride it but if you want an army get Wolfs.
you want something that is good for flat land and racing, a Horse is all you.
want to fly Infinitely, simple! Go to creative mode.
But if you want something that's different and better for mountains but awful on land a Dragon is what you want. Now in Four Colors!
What of these Weapons and Perks For Killing them?
All Dragons Drop the same thing. A lot of Experience and Dragon Scales.
Dragons scales Can Make a Dragon sword. No, this is Not a Weapon Stronger then Diamond. It Has 830 Durability. and Does 7 Damage[Same as Iron] Same Power as Iron but last's Much longer? Is this thing just a Stronger Iron sword?
No.
Obviously Dragon wouldn't be as strong as diamond in both respects but this weapon has something that makes it great. Enchantability. Dragons are in fact magical so why wouldn't the Dragon sword be magical?
Basically the Dragon sword Has a High Enchantibility. Meaning it has a Great chance of getting the Rarer or High Enchants Helping it rival Diamond with out just using raw Power.
and As for the scales, well Putting them In a beacon instead of a Normal Ore or Mineral will Increase Its Max range Making this a Great commodity for Big villages.
The Possibilities
These Mini Bosses Add something to venture out for, simply questing out for a dragon helps the player find many things, Horses, Villages and Different Biomes. also if spawnable like through Spawn eggs these would Make great Bosses for Adventure maps!
That's all I have to s ay, Share your Opinions and Help this idea grow because I'm tired of the egg Being Useless other then a trophy! support and leave feedback.
Recent thought, though. What about raising dragons from eggs? Such as there being nests or something, and they're hatched after certain requirements, and bond with them like with the wolves, then they grow after time. And then I realize that would lead to it being into someting like farming, and it starts to kill the original purpose.
Scratch that thought, but I still support this idea.

Also, here is an awesome suggestion I had: http://www.minecraftforum.net/topic/1745550-biome-effects/
Thank you, i appreciate the support~
Details in terms of? toggleing dragons? I think keeping it random helps with choices.
I do like how you put a lot of effort and balance into this though, so more 3/4 support.
Im, Pretty Ok with Model Making so Il get on that. keep an eye out~
Im going to get the numbers for health and what not.
Just to clarify on choices on health?
But I support.

Scratch that thought, but I still support this idea.
