You put gravel in a furnace, heated by a bucket of lava. You then get a block of cement. You can place the block down, but if you walk in it you will sink (because it is not hardened.) After one day of it sitting, it will harden and turn into concrete.
So there is my idea, but allow me to get into details, will ya?
So we all know gravel is basically useless right? I think it really needs a crafting scheme. And lets say that all that gravel is starting to take to much space in your chest. You could throw it out, or you could this new crafting recipe.
In ancient times, cement was made by well, lets keep this simple read this from Wikipedia: "The word "cement" traces to the Romans, who used the term opus caementicium to describe masonry resembling modern concretethat was made from crushed rock with burnt lime as binder. The volcanic ash and pulverized brick additives that were added to the burnt lime to obtain a hydraulic binder were later referred to as cementum, cimentum, cäment, and cement."
In minecraft, my new cement idea will be crafted (or made) by adding gravel to a furnace that is being heated up by a bucket-o-lava. The cement will look in a way like clay, but more grey, and there are little gravel "pebble" textures still in the wet cement. When you place down the wet cement, you must wait a day for it to harden. (Gotta give something for the realistic lovers of mincraft.) If you walk in the still wet cement, you will sink and sink slowly. Like spiderwebs. So yeah, wait for the cement to harden before you go walking over it.
When the cement hardens, it will be called concrete. Concrete looks like a dry version of cement, really. Still has little bits of gravel "pebbles".
Cement is blast resistant from 5 blocks, and up, away.
Simple idea, eh? I was thinking also that maybe if this was to be added, they should replace the roads in villages with concrete. Maybe add a new villager called Mason.....?
"This topic does not give enough." Not a correct argument. It gives a creative new use for gravel.
I will add more crafting recipes if people suggest, or i think of something, but for now, thanks for reading!
Please tell me what i can do to improve this poll!
I can see a conflict with uses other than a new decoration block.. Possibly make it slightly harder than smooth stone, and more resistant to explosions... I'd support then

So you use an entire bucket of Lava to get a single block of Cement?

I honestly don't see the point. No support.
Or iron blocks?
Or Lapis blocks?
Or any kind of wool?
Or hardend clay?
Or just about any other block?
I guess all those shouldn't be in the game, right?
