You might want to tweak how much the golden porkchop affects saturation. Max possible is 20.0. Current best food in therms saturation is golden carrot (14.4 ).
I think 15.3 saturation is enough.
I dont like the idea of the poticon of noturthingy.
Overall i like this suggestion.
Thanks for your opinion, and I didn't know about the saturation thing. Thanks for letting me know. It now gives 15.3 saturation.
Brew it with gunpowder and you've got a cool PvP weapon.
I disagree. The best weapon is almost always a bow. When you're in close-range combat and the fight is going to be very quick, people rarely have time to be throwing potions around. The sword is the better choice in that case, not a hunger potion.
So the purpose of the Potion of nourishment is just to not decrease your hunger? I would rather kill a couple of pigs and cook them instead of using my gold. The other one is potion of hunger. You need to balance that out, as Hunger I barely does any damage in PvP, while not effecting mobs at all. Hunger IV would encourage using this in PvP even more. 8 ingots for a golden porkchop that gives you 1 more saturation point than the golden carrot is not worth it as an edible item. I don't really see how I would rather use potion of hunger than poision at this point. What if the other player has plenty of food, then what? As I said, make it Hunger II or hunger IV or something (with plenty of duration) to balance it out.
Basically, the point is, if you have this potion of nourishment and had 4 bars left in a pvp map, once you drink it, you wont lose hunger. This will be useful for PvP.
Overall, Support.
Why not just equip with steak or cooked porkchops? If a PvP map/adventure map were to make a way to prevent hunger from draining they could just hook up a clock to this command:
/effect @a[0,50,0,10] 23 1 100
There, hunger solved by using things that are already in the game.

Maybe it could be Hunger I first off, and you could add Glowstone Dust to increase it's levels up to level IV.

I not sure if a lot of PvP maps would do this. Adventure maps could use that code, but I didn't say that this potion was just for adventure maps. It would also help a lot in SSP.

The idea isn't bad, and you are right about pigs aren't special anymore. We do need potion of hunger, but most mobs aren't affected by hunger, so making a splash potion kind would be useless. Support!
How much Saturation do you think it should it have?
If it were more than a golden carrot, wouldn't that make the carrot obsolete as an edible item? It's much easier to get gold than to kill off hundreds or zombies or finding a carrot farm at a village.

You're right. Most PvP maps are bukkit servers and turn hunger off. If vanilla PvP maps were to do this, they already have a status effect for it and redstone.
I don't understand why adding a new potion, even though you can have an infinite supply of food already.
This is way too pricey, so I dont think anyone would do it. I dont mind the idea of a golden porkchop but I think it should be 1 gold and 1 pork. Remember, gold is quite rare.
I dont like the idea of the potion of nurishment (it has been done) but I do like the potion of hunger.

No, the carrot wouldn't be obsolete. The golden carrot is still used for making potions of night vision and invisibility.

Well, like I said, not all PvP maps turn off hunger. Some PvP maps use hunger.

Well, gold isn't nearly as rare as diamonds or emerald ore. I've found a fair share of gold in my days. I'll consider this, though. I'm glad that you like the Potion of Hunger, though!

"And so I go fast. Not because I want to, because no one else will."
Here's a question;
The duration of the Nourishment effect?
I haven't really thought about it, what do you think it should be? Maybe it should last as long as it takes for your hunger to go to completely full to completely empty. The effect could also be lengthened with redstone.

I'll break down how I see it.
I'd rather eat regular food than spend gold.
Again, I'd rather just eat food from mass-bred animals than spend time and gold on that. Hunger immunity sounds pretty meh anyway.
This would only be useful for map makers, but they can already use spawners to affect us with the Hunger debuff.
So, you'd rather eat a regular porkchop than a gold porkchop which gives you back extra hunger and saturation?
Brew it with gunpowder and you've got a cool PvP weapon.
Thanks for your opinion, though!

Yes. I'd rather eat food that is infinite and plentiful.

Yes, I think that would be pretty useful when you're in PvP or a cave or some other place where you have to fight.
Maybe it could be Hunger I first off, and you could add Glowstone Dust to increase it's levels up to level IV.

Because you wouldn't lose any hunger, wouldn't stop regenerating health, and you wouldn't have to constantly eat food while fighting.
I not sure if a lot of PvP maps would do this. Adventure maps could use that code, but I didn't say that this potion was just for adventure maps. It would also help a lot in SSP.

Again, as opposed to carrying lots of porkchops, or finding many wheat in a mineshaft, or even killing many zombies for their flesh?
Rendering Hunger I useless? What if the other player has much food? As of today, there aren't any negative potions that are any higher than 3:00
If it were more than a golden carrot, wouldn't that make the carrot obsolete as an edible item? It's much easier to get gold than to kill off hundreds or zombies or finding a carrot farm at a village.
Wouldn't stop regenerating health? It's called Potion of Regeneration.

Thanks for your support! I will consider this but I think gold nuggets might be not expensive enough.
Yes, so when you're mining, you don't have to carry a lot of food, bring a crafting table, or risk getting poisoned.
No, the carrot wouldn't be obsolete. The golden carrot is still used for making potions of night vision and invisibility.
Well, sometimes you have a lot pork and gold and you don't have any ghast tears.

Gold is a renewable resource. You can get gold nuggets by killing zombie pigmen.
