I make adventure maps (but never actually finish them!) and it's really annoying when all my books from different characters all say *By Kellosian*. So, what I'm suggesting is when you're signing a book in Creative Mode only to have the option to change the Author's name as well.

Yeah. Players should be able to make maps without the use of 3rd party editors. I think that in survival mode it sohuld stay the same, maybe add colors, but creative mode should allow (probably in a menu on the side) your average text editor and to be able to "rename" the author. Simple really, I support!
Thank you all! I currently use MCEdit myself, but World Edit, NEI, and so many more mods are necessary to make a good adventure map it's somewhat intimidating!
Thanks for all the support! We shouldn't need 20 mods to make a good adventure map!
You only need two :/
- Forge
- In-Game NBTEdit
No support, as this is already possible with NBT editors; also, it makes sense that you can only sign your own username into the book, while "forging" a username requires non-vanilla methods.

Wow, using an editor? Why didn't I think of that! OK, GG everyone, thread is closed! Seriously? The entire point of the thread is to be able to change the author without using a mod! The entire point is to add an important thing in adventure map making without using a mod!
Although about the number that's just hyperbole (exaggerating to make a point, like 4/5 dentists reccomend a toothpaste). So, yeah :/

Well hello there, Mr. I-Am-The-Snarkiest-Person-Ever.
Are you seriously saying that this will improve making adventure maps without using any mods/editors?
I can easily assume that you have NEVER made an adventure map before; making one almost depends on using them.
What are you gonna suggest next, adding every NBT combination of spawners into the Creative inventory, just because you're so stubborn?
I gotta agree with them - anything you could possibly need to make an adventure map requires these two mods - and maybe WorldEdit, but that's pretty optional. I honestly prefer to have to do stuff with mods like this; it just feels better to me (and makes the map look cooler to everyone else if you know how to use them :D). Not that this is a bad idea at all, but i just think these things aren't big enough to be added as a feature alone, without anything else. If vanilla were to add a full NBT editor to creative mode, that'd be better, but it wouldn't fit. Mods are good.

I think there should be a "Captain" in there somewhere. And in the whole world? Why, thank you.
And yes, I would absolutely love to be able to place spawners. Maybe with some king of GUI that would allow the person who placed it to change what spawns, but only in Creative... but that's another thread.
And I'm actually in the process of making a HomeStuck-themed adventure map and I understand that I will need mods. However, mods can sometimes be a pain and can be unstable if you don't know what you're doing. Yes, yes, "Why are you using mods if you don't know how to do them right?", learning curves and all that, but it's a simple thing I'm asking for (well, relatively simple when you consider things like Horses, Command Blocks, and Redstone all exist. I know MineCraft is ridiculously complicated, but we're dealing in relative terms here). It's simply one less thing I have to get a mod for and mess with.
(Oh, and one more thing; sorry if I layed the snarkiness on a little thick. No real excuse there.)

There's also another way to do this.
Make a fake username with cracked minecraft and write on the book.
BTW: Could you make a banner for this?!? I would sooo use it!
How do I banner? If someone wants to make it, be my guest. Otherwise it won't get done because I have no idea how to do it xxxxD
