We all know colored harden clay was added as a decoration block. All of them have a dark smooth texture.
What I am suggestion is colored nether quartz blocks, with a bright vibrant smooth texture. This will have the same crafting recipe has colored harden clay, but instead of clay blocks, it would be replaced with quartz block.
Obviously colored quartz will not spawn in the nether. You still use normal quartz to make this.
Quartz really only has 2 uses and that is no where near enough uses compared to some of the other items in minecraft.
The addition of bright smooth blocks will help a lot when trying to create more realistic builds. Adding contrast in colors and what not.
Plus this is a sandbox game, more variation in colored blocks should be added
And if you want to see it in action, this resource pack modifies hardened clay: ColoredQuartz.zip
Feel free to make it out of pillars too if you wish.
PS: Huge Thanks to Zeel for making concept art
Edit: Please no "1/2 support comments"
Also, I prefer the texture of the blocks in the first spoiler, and the colors used in the second spoiler over the first spoilers colors.
im sure someone would be nice enough to make it for me if they like the suggestion, and no, if mjoang or whoever likes this idea i'm sure they will understand the concept of "bright, vibrant colors"
the best part is it would be a more common decoration block, since bright and dark colors go well together, imagine a bright red to go along with a dark blue, or even a bright green along with a dark pink, the possibilities are endless
Semi Support. I'm guessing this might not be implemented because both dyed wood and quarts have a slab and stair version which will take up some data values. That's just my guess on why dyed wood/quarts aren't implemented.

Another one for no reason isn't necessary.
No support.
(And you didn't have to include the color textures BTW; we know what colors look like without you linking us to pictures on Google)
