Despite the rude and selfish responses to my "vague" recent post, I will write in detail so that your unintelligent spiteful minds will be simmered down significantly.
I propose minecraft have a subtle lore, this could be written down or slowly learned while experiencing the game. Perhaps even explained upon gaining an item in a small description popup or small environments that tell a large story. I think minecraft needs a story, a history to how it came to existence. Why are you alone? Where did these fowl and nightmare like creatures dawn from? Who could be held responsible? With this, I believe either the creation of a hypothetically existant character should be generated and possibly even rarely seen throughout the game. This character's actions should be displayed for either us to find out on our own or to slowly learn about as we provide a sigh of relief as our thirst for further knowledge is quenched.
A sub story if you will, an adventurous sub story or a chilling sinister sub-plot. I think minecraft needs these subtle hints of why certain things are certain colours or how various realms came to be.

This is the most surefire way to gather support for a suggestion. PROVEN. When in doubt, ostracize and insult your audience. Microsoft proved that with their initial reveal of XBONE.
Related to the topic on hand: Minecraft is a post-apocolyptic game featuring a nameless scientist from the present which was sent to the future to stave the coming apocalypse, but he was sent too far forward and is now stuck.

Yes but this isn't mentioned unless researched, if the game actually displayed a more indepth and sophisticated or elaborate lore, then that, is what I am seeking.
I thought the story was a scientist created Creepers, made the Zombie and Skeleton Infection, made a spider growing splash potion AND an invasion of Enderman happened... All in the same day. Then a man who was frozen in Cyro Sleep (Steve) woke up million years later to find that the previous civilization was overgrown with NATUREEEEE. The humans evolved into Testificates, and some into Pigmen and went to the Nether. There was another insane human with him also.
The end.
Wait, i made that myself.
I don't hate, period. It's a waste of energy. Instead, I'm pointing out that if you want to get support for an idea, don't call your supporters "unintelligent spiteful minds". In the game industry it's called "bad PR", and in the real world that you so proudly laud from, it's called a "**** move".

It's because of the rule of dispersion. Someone, somewhere, will hate the idea that MC has a plot or lore. It has neither.
What I said is the most LIKELY and most accurate possible cobbling of lore, but it is far from cannon. In fact, the official cannon for MC is " ". That's right, there is none, Minecraft doesn't need a plot or nibbles of lore because it muddies the water on what MC is really about.
Let the ones that make the world decide what MC is really about.
Let the ones that make the world decide what MC is really about.
This is true but I still desire that besides our own legacy having an impact, there is a previous impact. Like perhaps herobrine created this apocalypse due to his malefic attitude towards how modern society was run, and upon destroying it, he destroyed himself and dwelled the land he had created as a monster combination of the chemicals involved in earths destruction.
Let's try this angle. For every bit of concrete information you are given, that is one less instance that you can imagine or create.
If they had an explanation of the lore of Mincraftia, then you wouldn't be able to create your desirable imagination or creativity, or it would have to bend around the already present lore.
What if mojang's idea of the lore of the game was radically different than yours. Then not only would you be betrayed by Mojang, but the game would be ruined, since lore is an important factor for your enjoyment of the game.
You're still not paying attention... As I stated before I understand that it is your legacy but I still think that the game should have history or a sub story that occurs within the realm. I've already stated this above and I cannot be bothered writing it again
This is a trees before the woods type of issue. It doesn't matter what I think of the issue or what I think of whatever/whoever/wherever's legacy.
The major point is that if Mojang added lore that points to something completely different and undesirable to you, then this suggestion would backfire and blow up in your face. If you don't already have prerendered reservations, I doubt it would be an issue, but if you already have a mentally established rule of lore for the game; than official and contradictory information would be an unsaid betrayal of trust.

Exactly. A game should either have a story upon the initial conception, or it should never have one. Especially on a Sandbox game. By this point, everyone has their own ideas on how the world came to be or (if you are like me) don't care either way. I like to think of Minecraft simply as the world that is. Upon a world's creation, that is the big bang. Poof, you and everything just appears. And the world doesn't end until you choose for it to (or die on Hardcore).

Despite the rude and selfish responses Get used to criticism or get lost to my "vague" Also a wishlistrecent post, I will write in detail so that your unintelligent spiteful minds OUR unintelligent spiteful minds? Yoshi here has sethbling IQ, and I can understand the vaguest thread in seconds will be simmered down significantly You've got a lot to learn, for example, don't insult us before making a suggestion and asking support
I propose minecraft have a subtle lore, this could be written down and discovered how? or slowly learned while experiencing the game and discovered how?. Perhaps even explained upon gaining an item Minecraft doesn't have quest items in a small description popup or small environments that tell a large story RPG and sandbox are not synonyms!. I think minecraft needs a story, a history to how it came to existence . Why are you alone? Where did these fowl and nightmare like creatures dawn from? Who could be held responsible? Let me guess: Herobrine? With this, I believe either the creation of a hypothetically existant character should be generated and possibly even rarely seen throughout the game. This character's actions should be displayed for either us to find out on our own or to slowly learn about as we provide a sigh of relief as our thirst for further knowledge is quenched. So Herobrine
A sub story if you will, an adventurous sub story or a chilling sinister sub-plot. I think minecraft needs these subtle hints of why certain things are certain colours Well, rose red isn't supposed to be chartreuse is it? or how various realms came to be.
Kind of like how you lack "using the search button" skills. You are like the 100th person to suggest lore for the game, and judging by your very low post count, you obviously haven't seen those other topics.
No. That kind of thing for Minecraft is a bad idea. When you leave everything in this sandbox game to be storyless with no definite origin, you give each individual player to fill in the blanks themselves. When you add this lore, you're adding definite stories to something some players may not like. So therefore, let everyone else write in the blank spots.
Like perhaps herobrine created this apocalypse due to his malefic attitude towards how modern society was run, and upon destroying it, he destroyed himself and dwelled the land he had created as a monster combination of the chemicals involved in earths destruction.
Augh... no. You just shot your suggestion in the foot. On this forum we're all sick of hearing about Herobrine. That crap got old a long time ago. So implementing something like that as an official story in minecraft would be HORRIBLE.
This lore of yours may be interesting to a few players out there, but come off as absolutely dull and cheesy to even more players. Solution: no stories, no lore. Let the player decide the adventure for himself.
I know you don't like to hear it, but this is vague. Saying it is isn't rude, it's a part of the forums. You need to live with it.
This is an idea. You have put down no detail as to how it would happen. This isn't really a well thought out suggestion.
Down to the point, I don't really like the idea. Minecraft is supposed to be a game without a story, where you can do what ever you want. If you want to have a history, write it yourself with a book and quill. Or write it on word and post it on the internet. Minecraft doesn't need this.

You know what? I bet I could make an adventure map out of this! then I would PM you the link.

Hmm... where to start.. Oh yes! First of all, LEARN TO HANDLE CRITICISM. WE ARE TRYING TO HELP YOU MAKE A BETTER SUGGESTION! Secondly, Minecraft wasn't meant to have a theme. You can be a builder, fighter, or whatever. Adding a theme to the game is not a good idea. And last of all, don't go all bananas on us because we don't like your ideas. We can say whatever we want about your suggestions.
Rude and selfish, huh? The Minecraft forum community members don't all just collaborate to destroy your ideas. It's called criticism, and by posting an idea here, you should accept the criticism, or don't post anything at all.

This will probably earn you an infraction...
will be simmered down significantly.
Simmered down significantly? By insulting us, you think we're supposed to simmer down? Rather, you just caused a lot more strife.
WHAT PLANET DO YOU COME FROM?!

Minecraft is a sandbox game. The beautiful thing about this is you can do practically anything you can and even can't do in real life, and especially make up your own story. What you're suggesting here is just overkill. You're explaining almost everything that has to be known.
By adding any story, even a subtle one, everyone has to adhere to the lore, and fan-made videos, pictures, stories, and so on all have to adhere to the lore.
And don't use the End poem as an excuse. It can be interpreted in many different ways.
With this, I believe either the creation of a hypothetically existant character should be generated and possibly even rarely seen throughout the game. Yeah, Herobrine claims totally won't go down with this. Now he can shape-shift.

3. SEEEAAARRRRCCCH! You are the millionth person to suggest lore. Seriously, there's a reason all the redundant threads are locked and left to rot.
Now for my critism,
This is a sandbox game. Adding lore mostly destroys the fact that people like making their own backstories. Same with me. I'd not really want the game to shove my character's origins and backstory in my face without me having a say at all.
