Nether fortress's should be redesigned ( I guess revamped would be a better word). They should be more like castles with a throne room that you must fight your way to. Wither skeletons will act like knights and protect the fortress. Blazes will act as archers. There should be common loot spread throughout the fortress with the rarest found in the throne room. The "king" of the fortress could be a new mob or a weaker variant of the Wither. If it is a version of the wither then it should have a guaranteed drop of a wither skull. The fortress would look the same only the layout would be more logical.
Well that's my idea. I would appreciate any criticism and ideas of your own.
Very vague and unneeded. Nether fortresses are supposed to be mysterious uninhabited ruins, not generic castles ruled by monsters.
It will add more of an exciting and rewarding factor of visiting the nether. Instead of it being a place people dread going because of the lack of rewards and endless danger. It adds another element besides farming blaze rods and mining for quartz.
i love how fortresses look right now. They are easily the best looking generated structure in the game. The fact that they are mostly made up of towers and bridges takes full advantage of the massive amount of space the Nether has to offer, rather the being one big splodge of stuff as this would imply.
They could look the same. Just with a more logical layout.

There are numerous ways to make the Nether more interesting, and this is not one of them.
There are numerous ways to criticize people constructively, and this is not one of them. What would make the Nether interesting, pray tell?
On topic, I'm in full support.
I don't know. However, the current Nether fortresses are mysterious and add atmosphere. Adding more monsters and a boss would turn the fortresses into really generic feeling dungeons and remove the eerie feeling that enhances the Nether.

The entire realm of the nether has this atmosphere. Which I admit gets boring fast. That is why fortresses should be revamped. They can be hard to find as anyone knows and once you have already conquered the fortress then it will look and act just like the nether fortresses we already have.
I hate fortresses, mineshafts, strongholds, etc desings. Because those structures are senseless. Seriously, who would build a mineshaft that doesn't take you anywhere? Same with Nether Fortresses. I support your idea!

They're supposed to be dilapidated ruins...not recently built residences, quarries, and prisons...
I like this, SUPPORT! I am thinking for the Throne Room mob maybe a Wither Skeleton General, with black Wither Armor. Maybe also there can be a half built wither on the throne, as if the General was trying to summon him before the players got there.
As said before,i prefer the old and a lot more original look of the Nether Fortresses than the generic castle.

This idea is just for the layout of the fortress not the overall look. I too like the way they look. I just want the layout to be different with an actual objective.
I like it, but I prefer the nether fortresses being abandonded. Havign enemies like that makes it feel like a generic dungeon. I wouldn't, however, mind some loot chests. maybe filled with nether bricks(item), soulsand, quartz, and some fences?

Thanks I just don't like the randomness and empty feeling I get when exploring a nether fortress. They are more like mazes then fortresses.
