Minecraft's grass is quite boring. There's normal, tallgrass and fern plus a few generic flowers and mushrooms. But that's all about to change with this idea!
Ground cover is a new type of block that spawns like tallgrass. It does not have a hitbxo and will be removed in one hit. However, if you hold your mouse down, it will break the grass which drops the grass AND the ground cover. Ground Cover spreads 5 blocks away from the 'source' block. Only 5 blocks of extension can survive with one source block.
Ground Cover types
Ground cover includes:
Daisies
Common
Daisies are small white flowers that grow in a patch. They drop petals which are planted for some reason into more daisies.
Clover
Common
Clover is another ground cover, like all of these ideas. They drop clover leaves which can be brewed into Potions of Luck. These make mod heads more common, akin to Looting and Fortune but for potions. Clover can also be eaten for half a hunger point. Cows can also be fed using these.
Strawberry
Rare
Strawberries are a rarer type of ground cover, spawning only in forest biomes. They can be eaten for 1 health point and drop strawberries which can be replanted in tilled soil. This can then spread to normal grass.
Moss
Rare
Moss is a rare type of groundcover that spawns in caves on stone. It can, however spread to 10 blocks away and one block up. Moss softens fall damage and looks pleasing to the eye.
Violets
Very Rare
Violets are a extremely rare groundcover. It is mainly ornamental but it will attract friendly mobs to your garden.
So, there you have it. 5 new plants and their uses.
I can see potential for some impressive terrain. But it might not look good if you could see dirt on the side of the block. It'd have to be covered up on all sides (except bottom) with connecting textures (similar to the way vines behave).
Especially for things like violet, could you imagine a beautiful violet area ruined by patches of brown?
Support by the way.

So is grass in real life.
Anyways, neat idea. Are you able to show examples through pictures?
Thanks for you input; I may be able to whip some textures up tomorrow. PS. Who's Lucario?
He's reffering to me
Well, in real life, it has bugs and stuff crawling in it, so technically, minecraft grass is more boring
