A transmutator is a special machine that can transmutate iron ingots into gold ingots and then into diamonds!
To craft, you need Eye of Ender and Redstone. You also need End Stone and Obsidian.
How does it work? You put 4 Iron Ingots and it will be transmutated into 1 Gold Ingot. The process takes 1 minute so it takes 1 hour to make a full stack of Gold Ingots from 4 stacks of Iron Ingots.
You also can put 4 Gold Ingots to be transmutated into Diamonds. The process takes 1 minute, as noted by the progress bar.
16 Iron Ingots are needed for 1 Diamond. Is this overpowered? No. It would take 6 full stack of Iron Ingots to get enough diamonds for full set of diamond armor. It would take a LONG time to transmutate the 6 stacks of iron ingots into Gold Ingots then transmutate them into Diamonds.
While the transmutator is processing, do something. Go mining. Do some farming. Do some mob hunting. The transmutation procession will take place as time passes.
9 Iron Ingots for 1 Gold Ingot and 9 Gold Ingots for 1 Diamond would be expensive as it would take 81 Iron Ingots to make just 1 diamond.
What you guys don't understand is that 380 Iron plus + 1 hour of time, is nowhere near worth 25 diamonds, a skilled miner could find that many diamonds in half an hour. Also throw in the fact that a player needs to have first gone to the end meaning the player is already probably very wealthy.
While you can't say it's op you can say that it doesn't fit In Minecraft, it also recommended that you include the mod that has the idea (equivalent exchange) The concept of alchemy itself while may fit into minecraft in other ways, the way you proposed is a long and boring sci-fi style thing, which doesn't fit with minecrafts magical rpg style gameplay, which encourages sudden creations with lengthened efforts, not lengthened efforts leading to a lengthened creation. Sorry but this wouldn't fit in the game the way you suggested in my opinion, maybe look at it from a not so obvious and different angle and it might get more support from this community. That's just my opinion.
Plus, how does it work? Iron doesn't turn into gold. They are completely different materials. Brewing works by introducing magic to the game but alchemy?
It doesn't make sense.
Iron is not equal to diamond and diamond should not be easily obtained, no matter how long it takes.
50% support. Personally, I think 16 iron and a minute isn't that much advantage over looking for diamond, since you can already get lots with Fortune III.

However, balance is the key.
Transmutator is pretty much an endgame stuff.
And it'll make diamonds renewable!

So diamond ore is OP?
