I always imagined Enderman to be cross dimensional beings. Such as during the night, they leave the end to steal blocks, and by day, they teleport back to their dimension. Now here's where my idea comes in. What if the blocks that are stolen are brought into the End and stacked somewhere random on the surface, like a stack of treasure.
Now this could play into a few things considering why they do it, like the Enderman are trying to give the Dragon an offering, and so on. But this would also give the player a small reward for getting to the end. Getting the blocks back that were stolen!
If this idea takes flight, they could even widen the variety of what Enderman can pick up slightly, because you can always just go and get it back.
I don't want people saying no, this is a bad idea. Because those posts are annoying.
If you're going to post something, please give a reason why it's bad, and how it can be improved.
Or just say on how great of an idea it is! That works too.
I like this idea, and I think you should specify what they CAN and CANNOT pick up. But, there would be some complications: Like if they pick up player-placed blocks, that might ruin builds or adventuremaps. (And don't say 'oh, just turn it on peaceful'. a lot of adventure maps require hard or above easy difficulty on.) This seems neat, and maybe enderman pick up ores. I like this idea a lot. Please elaborate. Support.

GENERATION 26: The first time you see this, copy it into your sig on any forum and add 1 to the generation. Social experiment.

Hmm. Interesting suggestion.
Now the widening of what Enderman can pick up was just a small idea, but what if what they could pick up depended on what the game's difficulty was? The harder it is, the more precious stuff the enderman can take back into their dimension.
The way the world and chunk generation is handled, this wouldn't be possible. The game would also be forced to remember what blocks any Endermen held prior to teleporting out of the Overworld, and this amount would be huge because there's always tons of Endermen you don't see carrying blocks.
The blocks that Endermen are allowed pick up is kinda limited anyway, so once you go to The End, you won't be rewarded with much Overworld content.
you wouldn`t be able to do that because of the chunk loading mechanics, that chunk is not loaded because the player isn`t there, indeed the end isn`t generated yet, so maybe that the game should generate the ID the endermen picked up?
On the contrary. The game can save the blocks taken by Enderman into a database, and once the chunks load where the game decides to store the stack of blocks in the end, it will place them! Easy as that.

Yes, that's true. It would make the game remember what blocks Enderman are holding, but that's what we want to happen. If you think it'd be lag intensive, all it would need is to create a simple notepad list. Not bad at all!
And yes, the blocks are limited, but that's also why I brought up increasing the pick up with difficulty before.
It too extrange they can only get a small quantity of blocks and what they do with then, this suggestion make everything better.
I think the block they would pick would be:
Easy:They pick now
Normal:All they do now,wood,planks,stone and cobblestone,bricks(Only normal,not with silverfish),coal(Possibly iron too),torches,wood and (cobble too)stone slabes,glass PANES.
Hard:ALL blocks except wheat, potato, carrots, and the stems of punpkin and melons,Nether-y,endstone,obsidian,diamond ore,all mineral blocks except lapis(or redstone),of course bedrock and and all types of portal blocks(Includes end portal frame).
HARDCORE:All except portal blocks, obsidian and endstone, and iron, emerald, gold and diamond mineral blocks.
