Kinda thought, if Mojang is going to come out with a Biome update, why not add something similar to villages but bigger.
An abandoned City biome would spawn villager buildings, or perhaps an entirely new set of buildings, as common as you could spawn trees in a jungle biome.
The concept would be that the city itself is the biome, and not just a village (or a large village) within a pre-set biome. The idea sort of ranges from seeing 32-block-high buildings with individual floors, the "Canopy" of the biome, similar to a 2x2 jungle tree, to seeing smaller buildings - maybe just a hollow 9square - all covering the "floor" of the biome, as well as all ranges of buildings in between.
A Rare biome, It could also benefit from a somewhat old/broken look. With randomly deleted walls/floors/sections of buildings, as if its crumbling down. the buildings could be made from consistent materials, meaning maybe it's a wooden city, or, preferable, a stone/cobblestone/brick palate, with iron bars, lava, fances, walls and other doodads thrown in, similar to a Fortress. perhaps many areas could be pre-lit with torches. But There shouldn't be any chests available in the buildings, they're simply part of the biome.
I do see few potential problems, Like, "If there's a city biome, why bother? if there's a building-generating biome, why bother building a city?" or something of the like, to which I say, yes, that is a good point, you don't want to try and take away the creative freedom Minecraft offers, but by adding a destroyed/crumbling aspect to it, it helps add to the "Yes, it's here already, you dindnt build it, true, but you can restore it. Similar to how you would landscape a jungle biome, fix up a misplaced village, or log a section of Forest.
Another potential problem would be "Well how exactly big do you expect to make the buildings?"
that is a tricky answer, one i'm open to? are there a specific til set of buildings that get a % of a chance to be placed, like a regular villiage spawns, OR
Can the XYZ dimensions of a particular building be randomly generated within parameters scaling with how frequent the large buildings are getting, and perhaps scaling downward as the edge of the biome gets close.
It seems like an interesting idea, but if there were to be cities generated like this, they should be extremely rare. Maybe limited to two or three a world, and perhaps just slightly more common than mooshroom biomes (Not much more common though...). Even still, I do not see this being added, as it would be a very large and detailed generated area. I greatly enjoy creating ancient and abandoned ruins/cities. It wouldn't be quite as fun to do so if they also randomly generated, but it would be interesting I suppose.

I also think they should be extremely rare. I think they should be bigger though, something that takes a while to explore with maybe some loot.
They would have to be done right though, or they would just look odd and not fit into the whole Minecraft-y feel of the game.
It would be rare. As rare as Mushroom biomes, or rarer. I'd say maybe like, a 1 in 50.
With it being such a rare biome i suppose it could have unique properties like an abundance of chests, or bookshelves.
There could be a central building which has a pre-set-up enchanting station.
But that's just an example. I mean this idea was the roughest one we had, when my friends and i were hot tubing drinking whisky and thinking about a biome update that we'd never have a say in, but it was my favorite.
It would need some more thought, but Pathans why i brought it up.
As a biome? No, this doesn't quite work. No support. It would be too large as a biome.
As a rare feature, like strongholds or villages, I might be willing to support something like this. We could use more of those for the sake of variety.
This would be a structure, and not so much a biome. We've gotten a thousand suggestions mentioning "Hey, you know how there's villages? Well there could be cities too!" And like I say in those thread, villages give us more than enough. No support.
Oh dear god, this would start the Herobrine rumors again.... Also what's the purpose of these biomes? I understand they're there to say "You didn't build this", but what DESTROYED the cities in the first place? Zombie infection? Raids? Uprising that failed? Personally I think this seems sort of pointless and, as everyone else already said, should just be a structure.

Tell me what you guys think?

Here are some tips to spice up the suggestion, even if I won't support:
