Good idea! but it should not be a problem to keep warm or cool . Moving can warm you up leather armour. to keep cool drinking water swimming in water shade all kinds of things can keep it easy keep a good temperature and it would make the game way more dynamic, So i think it would be great if minecraft supported this idea. P.S. all the people who think this idea is to realistic, are just babies.
Hey, I just had another idea, to get rid of the potential irritation of having another 'bar'. Like some people said, the effects would only show when you started to overheat/freeze. When you're overheating, the screen could go a little red at the edges. When you get too cold, the screen starts shaking as if you're freezing.
But there should still probably be a way of precisely reading the temperature. Perhaps there could be a thermometer that updates dynamically in the quickbar, similar to the compass and clock.

game should get harder and maybe there can be a hardcoresurvival gamemode that contains thirst, temperature bar, zombies are harder and can break every blocks(slower than a player of course)
I'd rather see and exhaustion bar instead of a temperature bar.
Plus, if you find it difficult to keep track of a Hunger Bar, a Health bar, and a third miscellaneous bar that in front of your face at all times, good luck in life. You're gonna need it.
It isn't, but it's one of the first suggestions where people are actually giving valid input on the idea. So, kind of redundant, but it's grown more than similar suggestions.

Speaking of exhaustion bars, my friend just suggested that I post that on this forum but i might be wrong but i bet ther already is one,
maybe to reduce frustration, it could be permanently there on hardcore and just an option to turn on temp bar in other modes.

Even then, the idea still remains horrible. Most likely, the majority of players will leave that crap off and enjoy the game without yet an extra bar to worry that's trolling their survival. Permanent on Hardcore? You're joking right? Yes, let's ruin Hardcore Mode permanently by forcing them to suffer with a herp derp temperature bar. No. Just no.
It's not a bad Idea, I think that these extra bars need to be optional, so if you want a extra realism to the game you can turn it on, but I think that maybe a visible bar is not necessary, maybe the bar remains hidden and only shows if you have some king of thermometer like the JonSM idea, but you still see some changes in screen color if is cold or heat. It's not bad, but should be just an option to the ones that want more realism.
well if I had my vote on it, I'd say yes, include the temperature bar. I think the whiners are too whiny. A temperature bar wouldn't really be that difficult to play with. And to be honest, it's one of the first things a new player wonders about ("Oh my goodness, it's snowing! Is there temperature in this game? Am I going to freeze? I better start a fire or put some clothes on"); it's just intuitive when you start playing in "survival mode" that one of the very basic elements of survival is regulating your temperature.
My vote registered, I will secondarily advocate for an "optional" temperature bar. But not by itself. I think there should be a more realistic game mode that includes the temperature bar, and things like it. This would be different from Hardcore, and not even really a difficulty setting, because maybe mobs remain just as easy, but the survival aspect of the game would get a bit harder. That's my favourite part of Minecraft anyways.

Instead of 1 yes with 10 no, you instead have 26 yes with 10 no
Oh LOOK AT THAT! The bad news, you're not a snowflake, and instead of people supporting your idea, you're supporting theirs :(.
AND WHILE YOUR AT IT, add a thirst bar, breathing bar where you have to click to breath every second, a sanity bar and the greatest one of all, the fat bar!

Its not your personality who makes you who you are, its your DNA.
I'd only think about supporting if it was hardcore only. And even then make it optional. I only wish the the hunger bar could be made optional and food healed you.

One of the cool things about Minecraft is that you get to craft your tools like maps and compasses. So how about this: the temperature bar is invisible, but when you get too cold, you start taking cold damage. Your Hearts turn blue, and you start taking cold damage. Maybe a teeth-chattering sound effect could play too. When you start to get too hot, you Hearts grow little flames, and you start taking fire damage. But, you could craft a thermometer, which would warn you when things are getting a bit too cold or a bit too hot. Note though: I'd suggest making it relatively easy to warm up or cool down. Caves should essentially be at room temperature, so all you have to do is get into an underground space. Or wear any kind of armor, really.
