This doesn't really make any sense. Even the logic behind it doesn't make sense. You say there are many treasures in the bottom of oceans and rivers, but there isn't a single thing down there.
Maybe, but only after we get some actual underwater content to justify it. Something that explains why a squid randomly found a book to eat.
its minecraft bro, there are so many open ends like this, like catching fish. i don't see any swimming around? do you?
That's not any kind of logic. Minecraft makes sense somewhat, in a fantasy sort of way. And just because one or two things doesn't make sense doesn't mean we should add anything and everything. As another poster here has said (I'm paraphrasing, the point is the same though):
Why don't we just add unicorns that fart diamonds and swords that you can ride on and can kill the enderdragon in one hit and a potion of grief that when drank allows you to destroy entire chunks making sounds from Mario and rainbows erupt from your eyes.
In other words, just because not everything makes sense, doesn't mean we should add everything or anything that doesn't make sense.
Besides, I never said I was against the idea, I just said it should happen after we get actual content in Oceans.
well at least squid are real and do in fact eat strange things irl, its a nice quaky little thing that fits into minecraft. and given that they have commented at the fact that really impressive content would most likely never get added to the ocean because of performance issues this is a pretty nice addition.
i love the idea and i support it. but i think a rare spawn rate and 100% drop rate would make it better. that would make grinders more annoying due to the trillions of ink sacks you get before even getting one book. also sense the books are random and have a high chance to be pretty lame like Bane of arthropods. 1/200 squids would be a pretty nice spawn rate. making them more of something to randomly stumble upon and are like "awesome an enchanted squid!" also high level books should be even more rare meaning you have to use a looting sword to get them (but you should always get a higher level book with looting) making grinders even less effective so that you almost break your sword after useing it to kill a bunch of squids.. hope you like my suggestions :3 in my opinion it seems more balanced now and more like a random treat then a rare drop from a mob. but its your suggestion.
On-Topic: Sounds cool, and different. But maybe too op. Just dig a hole, put water in it and play the game for a while come back with a million squids in there, which one is hopefully an enchanted one. Anyways, Support. +1
yeah i suggested some changes that would make this less effective
I agree that squids, more so oceans and water based biomes need more to them so that they're actually something people wish to explore, but I disagree that it should be some sort of enchanted squid. Perhaps make squids passive-aggressive mobs such as Zombie Pigmen are, if you attack one they swarm you. Squids in real life are not peaceful, per say. They are very dangerous if in a hostile mood.

Check out my Lets Play! It would be much appreciated! :3
I don't necessarily agree with this. I see no purpose, and this would be overpowered to say the least, an overworld mob that is nonhostile with good drops, it just doesn't have any purpose...

Cows drop Leather. And lets be honest here, Leather is a good drop.

not to mention chickens, that drop feather (you can make fireworks, arrows, book and quill with it), eggs (cakes and pumpkin pies) and raw chicken (roasted chicken), so chickens can give you a total of 9 items!!!
Well I personally support any squid upgrade I support this. If it ate treasure at the bottom of the sea, maybe it ate all of it before we could find it?
P.S I think Sky would like this because it would give him a reason to commit mass murder of squids to get his favorite thing
P.S.S Thats Budder
P.S.S.S I call it gold still
P.S.S.S.S Darn the person above me already posted the explanation for lack of treasure
instead of t-downing my suggestion just to advertise yours (since both are related to squids), WHY NOT BOTH? Seriously, they don't interfere with each other...
No support. First off, it makes little to NONE sense for a squid to drop enchanted books. Second, you can already get enchanted books from dungeons, mineshafts, strongholds, and villages.

I've played for 2 months after that update, i found countless villages/stronghoulds/dungeons/mineshafts/temples, and found ONE enchanted book, in a dungeon, and it had fire protection II.
Yeah, super OP.
But about it making sense... well, that's really not something you could count on minecraft...

that would be funny, but they cant really touch water.

Think that wither swords in game would be cool? post here! http://www.minecraft...her-sword-drop/
The squid got washed up ashore?

But its a bit random though.
Anyways,I support!
(Just don't tell the Sky Army about this, seriously.)
Converts enemy unit.
Praise be to Spode.
Actually, I find it nice to do so.
Who agrees to copy and paste this on his newest video?
