Lots of cool ideas that could come off of this, particularly if there ever came to be an option for running custom scripts related to mob behavior. Even without that, this has a lot of potential for creating some awesome stuff. Of course, it also has the potential for creating some atrocious things but as has been said, that's where an only repository comes from. This obviously wouldn't change the mobs that are in the base game (unless Mojang decided they wanted to include one of the mobs) so you don't have to worry about all the stupid stuff. Just get and play around with and finds the mobs that you think add more fun to your game.
There is going to be over 25 different things your mob can do,
making a Possible Over 625 different Types of mobs you can make..
Can I make a mob that, when killed, will turn all of the sand around it in to glass? I doubt it, though it is possible that you have taken this specific request in to account. The point is, scripts would give an amazing level of flexibility to what mobs can do. That said, trust me I'm well aware of how difficult it is to write a script parser and don't really expect it. But it would be freaking awesome. *_*
Lucky for you, Im doing that right now!
Im making the mob creator Really customisable!
So it changes or adds or removes blocks around it when the event gets called..
Ps.. The MC Mob Creator is now being merged with the Minecraft Mod creator soon..
Look it up! Its really good!
Some ideas for events that could call scripts are: on creation, on death, on finding a target, on being hit, and just periodically.
I love this idea! Will you be able to make mobs weaker to some items then other? If so, I'm definatly adding monster hunter creatures to my game :biggrin.gif: Also glowing features like eyes and such would be cool.
Sooo... are you going to make this a program anytime soon, or just be a noob screaming: NOTCH, ADD THIS, BLAH BLAH BLAH!!! No offence though, But not making this means it will never, ever, be added. ever.

You may be right, this might not ever get added to the game. However, this is a Suggestion board for a reason: to suggest new ideas for "vanilla" Minecraft itself. It's intended purpose isn't for giving ideas to and promoting mod developers.
I haven't just been screaming for Notch to add this (though some people have been); there has already been a lot of effort put into making this a more full-fledged concept. (Not looking for attention here, but maybe you missed the post of the image that I made)
There are also some people working on their own third party mods of the concept, which shows a good interest to contribute to the idea.
No personal offense, but your post isn't really that helpful and is a bit degrading to the purpose of the Suggestion board. It would be helpful if you had added a comment or criticism towards the idea itself.
A problem that I see is that people might make a mob that is completely harmless, has really low health, goes to the player's location, spawn like flies, and drop extremely rare stuff(diamonds, obsidian, etc.).
Other than that, this is probably the best idea ever.

That's not a problem simply because users can decide which mobs they want to play with. If they want to play with a mob like the one you described, they might as well just use an inventory editing program to get unlimited materials. If the player wants to ruin their own fun, that's up to them. Rules are different on a server, it's up to the Admin then, but who are we to judge them if they rule their own server?
So it is as much of a problem as an Inventory Editor is :tongue.gif:
I really like the concept, but it might be quite complicated to have Notch develop a program to pull out certain entries. Unless of course, everyone followed a certain way to code their mods.
NOTCH... DONT EVER ADD THIS!!!!

Looks like I goofed up on the signature code, just fixed it. Try this instead:
For such a good suggestion
