That actually sounds good:
All submitted mobs need to pass inspection by a Mojang employee.
/sarcasm?
yeah, i can really see someone at Mojang actually taking the time to inspect every mob submitted.
the online mob drop box would be spammed like /b/, there would be no way to keep up with it
@LaughingPickle78
@zophah
they don't need to be inspected at all, they just need a "report mob" button. if it gets enough reports it will be flagged into an inappropriate category only viewable by 18+ (just like youtube)
and also just like youtube (and spore), it's up to viewer/user digression of whether they want to use the mob or not
this. I mean, if minecraft is a survival game, why should we just stick with the original stuff and make our own monsters? a community of mobs seems like an awesome idea, but I think we shouldn't just stick to hostile mobs. maybe we could make boars that are like pigs just with a slightly different skin and attack or actual spy chickens.
that was part of the idea
mobs are everything that moves except you, so that includes animals, monsters, etc.
your reply does not justify anything, and your reasoning is illogical:
it took you 4 months to learn programming
therefore, it should take 4 months for Krelos to learn programming
but Krelos does not want to learn programming
therefore, Krelos is very lazy
you didn't consider:
-he's not interested in learning programing
-he might not learn at the same pace as you
-he might not have time to learn programming
if you don't like the idea of having something inappropriate on your pc, then don't download it. for example, porn just doesn't invite itself onto your computer without your permission (unless it's a virus, different thing tho)
my point is, the inappropriate mobs would not be in your single player game unless you selected them to be there.
the same goes for players building inappropriate things with blocks, it's not gonna be there unless YOU build it
SMP is a whole different ball game though, it's up to the server admins then. you won't be able to prevent inappropriate mobs from showing up on a SMP server just as you can't prevent people from building phallic things from blocks.
Minecraft's rating isn't based on the content that players make anyways. since the mob creator idea would be similar to Spore, I recall Spore having a notice saying "Player creations not rated by [company name]", because the company can't be held accountable for stuff they didn't put directly into the retail version of the game. anyone seeking to discredit Mojang and Minecraft itself by pointing to user creations would be absolutely ridiculous. if someone builds something incredibly stupid, they should receive the negative criticism, not Mojang
you can't ban people from visiting multiplayer servers. each server has it's own jurisdiction. basically, if you don't like what a certain server is doing or allowing, then leave. there are no server police and there should never be any to dictate how a server should be run
i think it would have to be on some sort of site
if u want it to be in a list when ur actually playing minecraft u actually download the mob and add it to some folder or soemthing
Hasn't anyone thought of spider pig?
Here's my little interpretation I thought of using some ideas.
Of course I will update this, I rushed this up in 2 minutes :smile.gif:
Ideas that I used:
-When you kill mobs, you get body parts
-Mob Crafting Bench
The thing to the right of the arrows is the Mob Crafting Bench.
Upgraded:
Upgrade 2:
When you press the "Done" button you will get this:
This asks you to name your MOB. When you collect the purified version (Green) and hover over it, it will show the MOB'S name. They do not stack for that reason. When you 'place' it, it creates a Mob Spawner of that MOB. After that, they will spawn anywhere (the ones from the spawner are friendly, and they help you fight anything that aggressively targets you depending on their status). If they are friendly intentionally they won't follow you and help you fight if they're not from the Mob Spawner. When you kill a custom MOB you may get a piece of their bodies. I will add another GUI giving more information.
a few things that should be taken into account for this idea of yours:
1) While it is obviously very well thought out, and would be a good idea, the ability to make mobs while playing the game may break the game. (or make it very laggy)
2) There is a suggestion about necromancy, and this sound pretty simillar
3) This would take forever to add into the vanilla, (or even a mod) due to the requirement of a new item, and the near endless possibilities of creatable mobs.
4) It seems a little to... evil... for minecraft, in my opinion.
5) Notch said he wanted to keep gore out of the game. while this may not be gory, it would be disturbing to see someone walk around in SMP with a head in their hands...
Ok if this will be released soon then i will give my heart to Minecraft!Well by "heart" i mean ill give Notch up for adoption!Wait no i mean ill give 5 diamonds!
!
I shall donate even more diamonds to make sure this is successfull!
x100
You are very kind, with your 270 diamonds, but I'm afraid without a proper method to contact Notch, they will have to go to the kittenz in need charity... XD
Notch has a twitter
Notch does have a twitter. What's your point? XD
I mean that he probably won't just go implement this because we want him to. Him and his team are probably already working on something epic. I doubt he would listen if we said "Check this thread. It has a cool suggestion that you should totally implement. I'm not kidding."

I was once mining out some iron, and the lava
fell in me.
But I lost 120 pounds in 4 seconds thanks to Lava!
[Notch] Before
[Skeleton] After!
I'm actually surprised that no one's thought to mention this yet, so I'll do it.
What this could use is support for all those custom mods out there, such as 303's Arrows or something, where you might want to make a fire skeleton that shoots flaming arrows?
If Notch actually makes this, then I suppose this support could be added in as a 3rd party sort of thing. If it is made by a forum member unofficially, then that support could be added in manually.
Personally, I think, that if Minecraft had this kind of editor in it, then it would be the most epic thing to ever happen. Ever.
I fully support this idea.
Who will make this magnificent idea come to life!??!
And how do the creator of mods like the Human + mod make their custom mobs? Obviously it's possible since they do it. Could anyone explain please?
They have to hard code the mobs with pure programming code. there is no 3D modeling aspect involved, unless they have a script that converts 3D models to the mob model code (which i highly doubt). there is also no interface for easily customizing the mob settings either.
I would make humans like the ones you used to be able to clone in classic! They have 10 health and drop either an iron sword or pickaxe... I can't decide.

Let's get this straight. I didn't lose my mind. It ran away... screaming.

I'm a pixel artist who makes pixel things and maps! I also do line art occasionally.
I have two work in progress resource packs!
This is the second one!
And of course, by "work-in-progress" I mean "will never, ever be completed".

So few people have Mac, so unless you could get it to work for Linux and Windows too, it would be close to pointless...
