Great idea, I disliked having to press many keys for different activities but with this you could access the majority of minecraft's key features without having to exit another activity. Support!
because when you have a full inventory, and many things to craft, it is a pain to constatly throw items on the ground, leaving the GUI, crafting, throwing some more on the ground, unequip some armor etc. it isnt such a problem with only 1 item, but an extreme nuissance when for example you wanna enchant your entire armor while having a full inventory
Exactly. Even if you don't have a full inventory it just makes doing simple things overly complicated.
Hey, I have an idea. I dunno if this has been suggested already, as I only skimmed the thread, but what if you could access the 3x3 crafting grid if you open a chest, and there is an adjacent crafting table?
I think that this is outside of the subject of this thread. Even if I agreed with your suggestion (which I may if thought out enough) I don't think I will be adding it to my original post. But thanks for the input.

Amazing idea, I think it has some potential as a mod, but because of how 'lazy' it is, and how Mojang would have to re-write/add things to the interfaces, I think it will never be actually added to the game. It seems like a cool idea, and i would get the mod if it came out!
I cannot tell you how many times I have been moderately annoyed and inconvenienced by the lack of this suggestion. Support.
This is irrelevant, buuuut, your signature is awesome :3 I was entertained for a good 2 minutes. I was kinda hoping for somethinh inside though, And same here. I want this to become a mod. If I knew how to make mods, I currently know Java, but not how to do things with Minecraft, I would make it myself. Someone needs to do this.

While I am not opposed to this idea being used in a mod I do not agree with your statment that it is "lazy". I think it is conveinient. I think it would improve user experience with out changing game balance at all. This to me makes it an obviuos choice for addition.
As to re-coding things of course there would be some any change to the game would need that. If we are going to use that as a reason to go with a mod instead of a sugggestion there is no point to the suggestions section of this forum at all. That being said I think that this change would not need that much rework done as all of these elements already exist.
See this is the problem with non controversial suggestions. If it is good enought that there is little discussion then it move down the list never to be seen again. Oh and Bump.
I'm tired of having to tap the ESC key for everything. I have a mouse pointer, let's use it.
