So currently, Snow Golems are nothing but ugly, weak and harmless mobs. They do no damage and can easily be 1 hit KO by Spiders. (which only do like 1 heart damage to us without armor.) This suggestion will help improve these Snowy creatures.
2.Spawning
Snow Golems can no longer be built. In order to get a Snow Golem, you must tame a Snowman. Snowmen will randomly spawn in groups of 3-4 in Snow Biomes. Like Wolves, they are passive at first, but when hit, will throw snowballs that do half a heart of damage. In order to tame the Snowman, have a Carrot and right click him. Once tamed, an option will come up if you want the Snow Golems nose showing or not.
3.Defenceand attacks of the Snow Golem.
The newly tamed Snow Golem will have 20 health points (10 hearts). Unfortunately, It will not do damage until you give it a black hat. To craft it, you need 5 black wool and put it like this on a crafting table.
With this, the Snow Golem will do half a heart damage to mobs. Not only that, but the Snow Golem will wear the hat. To heal your Snow Golem, give it a snow block for it to recover 3 hearts.
4. Breeding
To make 2 Snow Golems breed, Give them each an Icicle, An Icicle will have a 1/36 chance to drop from an Ice block one broken. Making them renewable. When bred, A newly created baby Snow Golem will come out. The Baby Snow Golem will only have 1 part of the body, it's head. After 10 minutes of being newly created, It will grow another part of its body. After another 10 minutes, It will be a fully grown Snow Golem.
Personally i would only like to see the snow golems actually doing damage to mobs, making it viable to keep a bunch of snow golems in small pens around your shelter to guard from mobs without being killed on the spot by spiders and skeletons. I think it's also a good idea to balance this idea by making them a bit harder to find/make (though i'd more like to see them still being made, but only more difficult for people not on creative).
Though, the black hat i think would not be such a good idea, it seems like an unnecessary thing to have to enable them to be able to do damage IF they are already a little harder to acquire. Though otherwise you have my support.
Also, i think you should be able to heal snow golems by feeding them blocks of snow or something.

Hmm, maybe a carrot could be used to tame them. I see many people putting carrots as a nose when creating snowmen
I'm not sure I agree with the idea that snow golems should only spawn naturally but I do feel they need to be improved in some way.
I don't know if normal mobs regenerate but since a snow golem is made of snow, walking on snow, I feel like he'd heal slowly.
Breeding could be interesting. I treat my golems like extremely suicidal villagers and lock them in places mostly. It'd track if they also breed some how, at least by my logic.

Having to craft a black hat - Nope, why would I need too? Snow golems dealing damage - when did snowballs hurt? Increased Health and healing them- the only thing I would support. 4. Breeding

Ive been thinking of hard-packed snowballs. flint + snowball= 1 heart of damage. put 4 in a square to make hard-packed snow blocks with better blast resistance. use one of these on a snow golem and you have a hard-packed snow golem.
I agree. all they are good for right now is lava bridges and snow farming (which isn't that useful, unless you like snow.)
I'd like to see snow golems improved, but none of this really appeals to me. I like crafting snowmen, and I don't like to picture myself trying to convince them follow me back to my base from an arctic biome. Breeding them sounds, well, it bugs me, and not just because you're adding a new apparently completely useless item as breeding fodder. Just let us build them, they're snowmen, for crap's sake.
Really the only aspect of this I like is the idea of upgrading them to violent snow golems, but I don't know how I feel about adding an arbitrarily-crafted hat. Now, if it was mob loot gathered from witches, I might be interested. It makes witches more valuable, gives them a unique drop item, and creates a sort of logical feedback loop--the hat is magic, ergo it makes snow golems stronger.
