A new kind of Single Rail Wooden Ladder Block = The Ladder Post(?)
Why Is There a Need?
Currently in Minecraft Ladders cannot be placed on Glass, which makes sense due to Glass being a nonadhesive surface, therefore maintained realism within the world.
Though this being true there has been some want for this feature in the past. This I feel is mainly due the transparency nature of Glass/ ladders.
My suggestion though is not to implement the placement of Ladders on Glass.
My suggestion compromised this dilemma of transparency with relative ease as the graphics are more or less essentially already within the game for implementation.
Its Features:
The ladder in question would be in appearance very similar to a Fence.
It would be partially transparent and would work in terms of stack-ability like Fences.
(See My Creations segment)
The New Ladder Block would be climbable on two adjacent sides
(when placed the direction facing the player and the far side of the block)
How Would You Craft It?
In a crafting table :
3 Sticks on the left side 3 Sticks on the right side 1 Fence in the very center
(similar in concept to how a regular Ladder is crafted)
A total of 12 Sticks are used.
Why this Crafting Recipe?
This crafting recipe seems the most fair in terms of balance. Comparing to the Alternatives:
2 Ladders on a 1 Wooden Plank
You would essentially be using 16 Sticks. (2 Wooden Planks = 4 Sticks .... 1 Wooden Plank = 2 Sticks)
To achieve the same two side climbing effect.
Result: All parts are individually recoverable, No Transparency, Relatively Expensive to Make.
1 Ladder on 1 Glass Block
Need: 1 Coal, 1 Sand Block, 1 Furnace, 7 Sticks
Result: Has transparency, Really Expensive to make.
With 2 Ladders to be able to climb up on both sides, even more expensive
Result: Would have potentially sever problems with placement, especially one on top of another
What would it look like
References:
The best I could come up with with my skill without using paint, but visually it's there. My creations:
First on left: The best current alternative 2nd from left: What my idea would more or less look like (disregard the stone blocks) 3rd and 4th from left: What they would look like stacked more or less, though better rung spacing 5th from the left: The Crafting Recipe (could potentially be revised)
Transparency:
-You can see mobs coming
-Looks nicer aesthetically in terms of structure compared to placing an entire block and Ladder.
Block has double sided climbing:
-could be quite useful if built into a fenced off area. You can quickly get in and out of the are while mobs cannot climb over the block
-no need to click like a gate requires, Also better than a gate since animals can pass through a gate, if you forgot to close it.
It doesn't seem necesary, as it's use could work exactly like normal ladders.
Though you do get transparency with this idea which is a useful feature for a block to have.

Also this block would have double sided climbing

You can place ladders on glass as for now, just hold shift and right click the glass.
Incorrect. Shift clicking essentially favors your held object over the GUI of any object you are clicking on. This results in allowing you to place torches on crafting tables and furnaces. As glass does not have a GUI, shift clicking will accomplish nothing. On topic, I personally prefer glass and two ladders. I don't know why.

Overall many unique and useful features.
Your typo is confusing. Also its not a very effective strategy, especially for tall structures.
