what would happen, if.... say , an enderman picked it up? or it was pushed my a piston? or blown up by tnt or creeper? set on fire? pulled by stickypiston? what if you put a red torch inside? would it emit a red-pulse? how about a repeater? dust? if you placed a torch in it would it light the room around it? can you put bookshelvs inside bookshelvs? how about chests? if so, are they funcitional?how about pistons? furnaces? and what about the fat-cow blocks like beds? can you put them in there?and staris? if you placed lava buckets in it would it start on fire?

-An Enderman CANT pick up Bookshelves since Official Release 1.0.0
-The Tile Entity makes it impossible to be moved by a piston
-When destroyed in any way, it would drop all the things inside it and not drop the bookshelf
-I did not plan it giving redstone power when a Redstone Torch was inside
-I do not want repeaters to be placeble inside the shelf
-Torches placed inside wont cause the shelf to emit light
-I have put a list of items placeble inside the shelf
It is either you did not read or you are trolling.
If you did not read, then DONT comment
If you plan to be a troll, then dont go too far. I am being nice to you because I also troll people in the forum sometimes
Although I completely support this (just for books, allowing placement of other items would obsolete the chest in many situations), this will more than likely not be implemented due to the following reason:
In order for the bookshelf to store the items (let's say books), it would require the block to have a tile entity. By having such an attribute to the block, it renders it unable to be pushed/pulled by pistons. This is most likely a safe guard against exploits allowing one to duplicate items.
Nonetheless, this would make use of bookshelves as secret doorways impossible.

I remember saying those in the post. Yes, I know secret doorways would now be impossible however you can use other blocks instead.
This is better than the standard bookshelf suggestion =) I just really wish tile entities could be pushed... moveable dispensers... Thumbs up, I like it!

Thanks. But it will take time to have movable Tile Entities. Tile Entities store information of a block using its coordinates and being able to move that would cause uber lag especially when done at once.
I love this idea! However, I think written books should have a different texture to regular books, so you can see which bookshelves have written books stored in them. Perhaps have the default texture but slightly purple?
Support.
Lol yeah but remember: Close a book and an empty book, you get the same thing. (In real life)
Yea, but you don't get glowing purpley books in real life once you write in a book do you? Lol, I do get your point though, but it'd be nice to be able to distinguish the 2, for efficiency of finding items.
Absolutely support! Now that items are getting more dual uses for function and aesthetics - especially, in this case, books and writing books - it should be a clear decision that bookshelves should be able to display items ... and of course, books.

"WE HAVE CHESTS"
I know but this is more appealing to look at
Lol dont judge a book by its over. Oh well thanks. Though you DID consider the negative effects right?

Huh? Did you mean keep old books as in take back your old books? Yeah you can.
Yeah you can, like how I kept my old map (before the tweak) from my old survival world
You can still have the old bookshelves. Just place six books and you have the deafult bookshelf. Just remember you can decorate with cobwebs.
sssssssupport
Great Idea, this will make libraries look so cool.

Oh... Lets see what I can do
Really? I did not notice that
