I am not sure if this feature has already been suggested, sorry if it has. It would be very useful if Minecraft implemented a feature that allowed us to choose a version of the .jar. I currently use the Magic Launcher in a similar way, although I believe that it should be integrated into the game. One benefit of adding this would be if certain people favor the way that one version generated terrain, they could easily choose to start that jar, and generate the terrain as they wish. The same goes for people who love the nostalgic feel of the older versions. I believe that this could be best implemented if they add a menu to launcher options popup, as there is not much in the options. A person could choose the version they want to play, for example version 1.0.0 The .jar would download, overwriting the existing .jar, or have a separate folder called pastversions, or something of the like. That is the idea that I had, do with it what you will.
My MagicLauncher Configuration / Version Selector. I have saved all the .jars since 1.0.0
This would be useless and be a waste of coding time

Wait, shut up. Read the first rules. Do you have a degree in coding? Probably not.All Jeb/Dinnerbone has to do is add a option to the launcher, which version you want. When minecraft installs, it installs every version of jar. Over time, you cut off some versions, so it doesn't take forever to install. No, it wouldn't be useless, some people want to use older versions. It gives people a Choice.
