Not nearly enough content to your suggestion.
"It has more uses" is completely undescriptive. Waht are some of these uses?
I could just as well say "They should make a mob, and it should do stuff". But
that's not a suggestion, that's a nondescript parody of a suggestion.
Case in point: Be more specific.
He's specific enough. He wants the diamond and steel to be like flint and steel but have more uses (more durability). I don't think it's a good idea, but it is described fully.
But flint and steel makes a spark. How would scraping a piece of flint on a diamond do anything? The diamond would just scratch the flint. While minecraft is not realistic, there needs to be something real. Or else it becomes Candyland with free flying and happy ponies and lollipops. That ain't what we want, cowboy.

I have discovered a truly remarkable proof of this, which this margin is too small to contain.

Realistically flint and diamond would not make any sense together, since they usually make aspects in minecraft relatively real (obsidian is created the same way irl, flint and steel actually makes fire, etc.) but they could use it to create fancy new blue things, which I guess could be cool.
Then how about I change my idea to "Flint And Lapis"? There is barely any use for Lapis anyhow, besides helping find diamond a little, and coloring wool.

Actually, it should be "flint and lapis lazuli" since "lapis" just means "stone".
If anything, it should be diamond and steel. The reason flint and steel (assuming you're using real flint and not a lighter flint, which is actually made of mischmetal, a mixture of rare earth metals) works irl is because the flint is harder than the steel. As it scrapes along the steel, microscopic fragments of steel fly off the main piece of steel and burst into flames from the friction. These sparks then start the fire. Diamond is harder than flint, and neither would spark if you tried to use them like flint and steel. Maybe fires started by diamond and steel should be blue, just for aesthetics.

If anyone wants to port/remake this, feel free to do that! Or don't. It's up to you, really.

You are right about that blue fire would be for semi-aesthetics and it would NOT burn wooden planks it would only set fire to leaves and plus THIS IS MINECRAFT it does not have to be That realistic.
I know it wasn't very descriptive, that's why I was asking the ones that are commenting to add to it, and I might want to change this idea to like a "Lapis And Flint", or something instead. I guess diamond might be overshooting it. Lapis is hard to find too, but it has no use except dyes, am I right?Or "Lazuli And Steel"? Blue fire possibly can burn sand, or dirt, or something else than wood. Still gets put out by water though, or whacking it.
Colored fire enchantment, and extended use enchantment. How about that? The color of fire is random though.
The color shouldn't be random. There should be a chance of it being either enchanted with Redshift (makes red fire), Heat (makes yellow-white fire), Plasma I (makes green fire), Plasma II (blue fire), or Plasma III (purple fire). Despite the different levels of Plasma, the different colors are all equally available.

"Minecraft is not about realism" is the most uncreative, boring excuse for a counterargument I have yet to see. Seriously guys, grow some creativity. Anyways, also addressing the issue of realism: Gold is soft. Obsidian is made from quickly cooled magma/lava. Flint and steel, when struck together create sparks which make fire. Tree saplings eventually grow into trees. You can drown. Water will moisten and somewhat fertilize soil, making crops grow faster. If you fall 50 stories from your skyscraper, you'll probably die. You can fall. List that many unrealistic things that aren't just blatant magic (enchanting/zombies/the Nether, for example).
I understand it shouldn't be too realistic, but we shouldn't throw the laws of physics out the window either.
or we could die a flint and steel and get other colours of fire even though this is not in real life who cares its not like floating blocks is in real life too

Now that would be kinda cool! However it should be simply done by lighting a colored wool block.
Possibly, how about they make a new flint combination with diamond, it has way more uses, and well... That's about it... Anyone agree they should add a "Flint And Diamond"? Also, tell me more about what this could be than just it has more uses.
I think he means MORE Uses
SUPPORT THEM!!!!! (also if your a new please click on the picture)

NOBODY CARES
Too bad I can't use the Nobody Cares meme, Happy forever alone meme, or Are You F****** Kidding Me meme

Steel isn't combustible. I don't think it has to be combustible to make a spark. But still, flint and diamond wouldn't work.

As nice as a higher tier flint and steel would be, it's not necessary.

I agree with MoSteel7
