I've had this game for about a year now. I'm highly appreciative of this game's vast landscape, friendly and creative communitites, sweet features, and highly fun and addicting gameplay. However, I can't help but feel that this game isn't as... interactive, as most games. Like, if I run, where's the panting? When I have a torch out in a cave, how come the torch doesn't light in the darkness until I place it down? How come I can't hear the furnace hiss as it burns/smelts it contents?
So, I believe an update should be done to make the game more realistic and interactive so that everything feels real, and like the game's alive, not just processing junk. Here are some things I've noticed about the game:
Torchs don't have light in your hand
Avatar doesn't pant when running
Furnaces don't hiss when burning/smelting/cooking
Workbenches don't make clanging/banging noises when crafting is taking place
No snoring when you're asleep
No random wind gusts, weather is almost never there, save the rare rain/snowfalls
No string drawing sounds when bows are being pulled back
No sword clanging noises when swinging them at enemies
No plop/pound/smash sound when dropping items
No magical sounds when using enchanting table
No flowing (temporary) aura around you indicating you've used a spell/potion on yourself (ex: red fiery aura to indicate you've used a strength potion)
No scraping sound when using flint & steel
There's more things to this, too, but I'll stop there. By now, I think you'd all get the point.
Would be very fps intensive and I think Mojang said they would not add this.
Avatar doesn't pant when running
Makes sense
Furnaces don't hiss when burning/smelting/cooking
Makes sense
Workbenches don't make clanging/banging noises when crafting is taking place
An issue with this is when crafting, there is not waiting time like with a furnace so when would the sound take place?
No snoring when you're asleep
I think you go to sleep too quickly for this to be any useful. Also the sound might add gender which Mojang does not seem to like in minecraft
No random wind gusts, weather is almost never there, save the rare rain/snowfalls
Makes sense in most places but could have some small issues with when it plays
No string drawing sounds when bows are being pulled back
Makes sense
No sword clanging noises when swinging them at enemies
Almost all of the enemies don't have a sword and already have a "hurt" sound
No plop/pound/smash sound when dropping items
I don't really like this idea as it could get annoying fast. Also based on what block it would be falling on could be a pain to code and pair with a sound.
No magical sounds when using enchanting table
Similar issue to the crafting table
No flowing (temporary) aura around you indicating you've used a spell/potion on yourself (ex: red fiery aura to indicate you've used a strength potion)
Like a visual aura? Minecraft already has the swirly things.
No scraping sound when using flint & steel
Makes sense

A lot of these have "makes sense" and by this I mean I like the idea, but overall it seems that C418 is really busy with other stuff so I doubt he could just do these quickly.

I understand that.

As you click on the crafted item to be dragged/shift placed into your inventory.
No snoring when you're asleep

Just a thought, but I can see where you're going.

Such as...?
No string drawing sounds when bows are being pulled back
Makes sense
No sword clanging noises when swinging them at enemies
Almost all of the enemies don't have a sword and already have a "hurt" sound
True.
No plop/pound/smash sound when dropping items

You maybe right, although the sounds can be in general regardless of what they hit on the ground.
No magical sounds when using enchanting table
Similar issue to the crafting table
Same as what I suggested, when you click or shift the item that was modified, it makes a magical sound.
No flowing (temporary) aura around you indicating you've used a spell/potion on yourself (ex: red fiery aura to indicate you've used a strength potion)

But can you see you have it on you when you look at yourself in 3rd person? Also, to add in, othe rplayers can't see you have enchanted armor or weapons, so I think it'd be good to let them see that you have such special equipment.
I suppose the light coming from held torches are possible. But there's 1 issue: Lag. But if there's option to turn off, I support.
It's possible, but will never happen. Torches already do a good job of marking what part of caves you've been in anyway. Even Notch or Jeb said that they didn't want a carry-around light source.
As for the suggestion, the only things that are talked about are the lack of sounds for some things. A few of what you mentioned might work with some new sounds, but things like snoring and sounds of dropped items are extremely unimportant and superficial.
Torchs don't have light in your hand Could be cool if it would work, probably just way too overpowered though.
Avatar doesn't pant when running Could get annoying after running for a long time
Furnaces don't hiss when burning/smelting/cooking Imagine having 10 furnaces cooking at once, this could be really loud!
Workbenches don't make clanging/banging noises when crafting is taking place This could be a nice feature.
No snoring when you're asleep I also like this idea.
No random wind gusts, weather is almost never there, save the rare rain/snowfall Could get annoying after a while of working outside.
No string drawing sounds when bows are being pulled back Could be helpful, you can hear other players drawing their bows so you might have some warning about if someone is going to shoot you.
No sword clanging noises when swinging them at enemies This could get really loud and annoying if you are spamming some mobs with your mouse.
No plop/pound/smash sound when dropping items Might be too complicated if every item got its own sound.
No magical sounds when using enchanting table I like this idea.
No flowing (temporary) aura around you indicating you've used a spell/potion on yourself (ex: red fiery aura to indicate you've used a strength potion) I also like this idea.
No scraping sound when using flint & steel Another good idea!
These are just my opinions, but I am probably not one to talk considering I don't even play with my sound on.
Potions aren't necessarily magical, so I don't think they should have a sound effect/partical effect other than those that are already in the game.
Many things in minecraft aren't meant to be realistic, and therefore sound realistic, but some of the things here would make it more obvious when certain events are occurring.
