So i apologies if this is just an Asian gaming trend but, how do you feel about seasonal content? I started thinking about the addition of witches and realized, they're nice for Halloween but, do we really need them afterwords?
In other words you can acquire special items you can only get during season events, you can keep them after the event is over but cannot acquire them after the event, you have to be logged in for it to work and from the launcher it can check to make sure its within the acceptable dates for the event (i mean unless your a lame hacker...).
Just a few examples might be:
Christmas/winter: random present blocks under pine trees with nice little items in them, Mobs have chance to drop rare Christmas foods or Christmas decorations, every biome gets snow then after winter update it melts away like it normally would. Spring/Easter: greener foliage color, more flowers in new terrain, chicken lay Easter eggs which have a chance of dropping an special item summer/beach content: lily pad texture has a flower on it, alittle faster crop growth, seasonal summer boggy boards that are faster than boats Fall/ Halloween: red yellow brownish foliage color for trees, mobs drop candy at night, rare Halloween textured mobs that might drop a special Halloween decoration
This isnt a suggestion i just wonder how people would feel about it, obviously there could be other holidays for other countries (Chinese new year, Saint Patrick day yatta ya)
Looks like you copied and pasted this from somewhere. But I somewhat agree with this. But how will this work? By the computers date and time or by online?

It checks the same place (mojang) that tells you if theres a new update, if its not the right days by mojangs clock it doesnt allow the content on startup.
I too would love to see seasons added to the game. Naturally, if we had seasons we'd have holidays too. I'd go just a step further with the season Idea and allow things to change seasonally depending on what biome you're in. Allow it to snow in temperate biomes during winter, then thaw out in spring to be replaced by lots of grasses and flowers. Then it would move on to the hot summer months when crops grow best, and finally the colors would shift to show autumn pumpkins would show up as well as mushrooms and your holiday mobs would spawn. after that the cycle restarts anew.
In deserts and jungles you wouldn't have snow, but perhaps you'd have a rainy season to replace winter.
Tundra/Taiga would be snow covered most of the year, but it'd melt and rain during the hotter summer months allowing you a small period to get your outdoor farming in.
Since realtime would be a bit of a pain I think it'd be cool if the seasons changed every 30 days or so in game. Naturally we wouldn't have regional holidays like Thanksgiving, Cinco De Mayo, Boxing Day, Children's Day or the like, but perhaps we'd have our own Minecraftian Holidays. The running of the Creeper anyone? Eh? Eh? Ok, maybe not that one, but still! Maybe a Dirt Hovel day to celebrate the launch of the game when, no doubt, there were earthen mounds as far as the eye could see! lol we could have a holiday in game to celebrate roughly the days when different features were added to our lands. Nether day, Creative Day, Breeding Day (a favorite around these parts), Enchanting Day, maybe even and Alchemy day!
Now that I think about it, the running of the creeper sounds pretty fun! I may have to design a mini game around that!
I play a lot of RPGs & I'm used to year-round Bog Witches/Swamp Witches. Even Serious Sam 2 had them & it's an FPS.
Just shack up those hags in a swamp biome, have them occasionally curse something.
Witches would be way more useful is Minecraft had quests. Fetch weird ingredients, have them craft potions you can't, force them to lift curses.

I like this idea. Maybe what you could add to this topic is rain for most of autumn. and plus in autumn the leaves on trees turn brown and fall off the tree.

Aren't Zombies, Skeletons, and Spiders also commonly associated with Halloween too? The Witch isn't out-of-place at all.
However, I wouldn't like to have all the cactuses in my world turn into Christmas trees all of a sudden...
or -1 me with your mind. One of them is less frustrating.

If this was implemented, there should be a way for server owners to turn it off in the server.properties.
