I have a quick fix for redstone in this suggestione.
When you have a piece of redstone on a stick, it gives of power. But when you have redstone dust on the ground, it does not. Also with repeaters and redstone blocks, they have redstone in them but do not give off any power.
So, i propose that ALL redstone give off power. All redstone and repeaters in a circuit would now give off power, fixing the issue.
You need to have sources of power and conduits of powers. Making everything related to Redstone a source of power would turn all conduits into sources, rendering circuitry useless.
There's no need to introduce another conduit, either.

It just fixes the obvious flaw in Minecraftian logic, that only some pieces of redstone give off power.
The new greenstone and bluestone fixes the issue of everything giving off power.
Why should bluestone and greenstone not give off power, then? Clearly, they conduct redstone current, so they must be similar to redstone.
I believe in real life copper is used to conduct electricity on a regular basis. It most certainly DOES NOT give of power so i fail to see why greenstone and bluestone should. Just coz something conducts does not mean it gives of power. Thanks.
No, there has never, ever been a sandbox game with a story or ending... except Grand Theft Auto... and Saints Row... and Red Dead Redemption... and Crack Down... and Assassins Creed...

Dude, now you're just saying that if redstone conducts it doesn't mean that it should give off power. You're almost saying the opposite of your suggestion, which is that ALL redstone should give off power.
Also, has it been considered that when put on a stick, there might just be a substance in redstone that, on contact with wood, gives off power or something? Like, theres a flammable object that gets lit when the torch is crafted that causes power to be given off?

Copper is used in batteries, which most certainly produce power. Therefore, copper produces power.
There's a flaw somewhere in that logic. Can you find it?

All redstone should give off power as it doesnt make sense that only redstone on a stick gives off power as it does now.
At the moment there is a very clear logical flaw in the redstone mechanics, which i am trying to fix.

Why should attaching a stick to a bit of redstone not make it give off power?
You can jam a stick in a piece of cobblestone, poke a piece of stone, or stand on a sheet of wood to make power. Minecraft doesn't obey normal laws of physics. You can't try to make a comparison.

Please leave any improvements to the idea below,
Thanks guys!
This would not be a good idea, and would make so many problems with the system I can't even begin to list them...
Well please list some so i can at least deal with them. This is just fixing the obvious logic flaw with redstone.
Redstone torch = current
If you make the dust = current, then many things will malfunction
1) Torches
2) Repeaters
3) Everything made in the current system
We would implement another dust to replace redstones current carrying capabilites.
Perhaps greenstone or bluestone or yellowstone dust. This dust would only carry current and act as a repeater.
I think there is a thread on greenstone dust, maybe check that thread.

...I think Sethbling would cry if we did this...
Having read your other suggestions, I find it ironic that you're suggesting we make the more logical. It's also overpowered, so no.

There is nothing wrong with redstone...
And I agree 100% with this guy. You are not one to talk about logic.
For the love of god, think out your next suggestion... put a LOT more thought into it...

If all redstone gives off power, redstone powder will be pointless...
Can't tell if all 572 posts are like this, or troll.
Redstone is for giving off power, that is why i suggested greenstone and bluestone to act as conductors, how redstone dust acts now.
