I would really love to see the animal life implemented, along with fish and sharks too maybe (we could use a hostile water mob, maybe they can break boats with a few hits, similar to zombies with wooden doors). And underwater plants would add alot to the game as well (new food and recipes)
i have a butt load of ideas for ocean biomes. i was just about to post them in a thread of my own. i'll go do that.
why not just post them here?
also why was this thread moved. this was a discussion thread. now that its in the suggestions forum we cant discuss as much or get the over feeling of what the general minecraft audience wants

The walrus idea seems awesome to me, you should be able to place saddles on them and ride them. Also slightly off topic but dogs(pets in general actually) should be able to have more than one pup/kitten in one coming, making it easier to breed animals in general.
That would make big ugly air pockets if it was re-given the old properties. My suggestion is there is two technical variants of sponge, one that does not have the blocking property, and, when you break it, you get the water blocking one.
i think the best way to make coral is with a entity that grows coral on it that can be farmed.
also we should be able to " break" the enitity and get a placable verson of it to ot make for ourselfs.
what do you all think?
I was thinking similar, but more like a walk-throughable plant like block than a solid block, but I'm certain one could make a coral block and make giant coral structures.
I think oysters or clams would be good additions, they would function like chests, and have pearls inside.

the thing is jeb has had problems with making coral with blocks so i think the only way To do it would be with a enitiy

I think shipwrecks/lighthouses would be a bit too much. It would civilize the nicely rough Minecraft environment.
In my opinion there should be underwater chests. They would be pretty rare and would have loot of bones, gold and emeralds (super rare). If they were to be about the same level as the ocean floor, they would be pretty hard to see, plus REALLY hard to loot due to the limited oxygen. It would be a pretty big risk (I think anyone who has tried diving down to the depths of the ocean can agree with me). It would add a fun little adventure for people who like to go fishing or a huge achievement for players who have just started playing.

I would have to disagree with you on that one
Strongholds and ruins( dessert and Jungle) were made by ether villagers, pigmen( living), other "humans" or a unknown creature.
nether forts are made my zombie pigmen( maybe).
Villagers not only made villages but also they "created" iron golems
I think that villagers or the long dead pigmen could create the lighthouse or a ship.

Just my opinion.
now lets talk about coral for a bit.

Sorry this is what happens when we are reviewing in Bio 101.
I set a max of naturally spawned whales in a chunk to 6
close to how Squid use to be coded before they made them despawn.(1.5)
im also thinking of adding some interactions between fish squid and whales ill add them to the OP soon
