No, that gun is way over the top, I can't wait until Mystify or others see that
@Kryscent
I'm sorry but I just don't like this, maybe if it were more in line with the firing rate of the Arquebus and have 1/3 the range, have the same damage as the B&A but have plentiful bullets made from the simple bullet recipe maybe, just maybe I could see it work. But why use the flintlock or even incorporate it if it's just a poor man's Arquebus and rich man's bow when other things could be implemented in it's place? Let's just stick with what we were permitted to have by the one vocal opposer of guns.(everyone else just says no or can give two shits about it)
I decided to update the stats on the post in the previous page, and I'm also going to add the stats here for newcomers so they can view what the agreed upon stats for The Arquebus was
Stats The Arquebus would have 100% accuracy.
But bear with me before protesting this, and let's take a peek at our contestants side by side before passing judgment...
The OP has found that the average Minecraft character can sprint about 7 tiles in one second
The op also agreed to a carrying restriction to be implemented to the Arquebus to avoid it being fired multiple times.
I'm also going to point out this, this gun is not point and click, it is fused based, meaning after you click it takes 2-3 seconds to fire like the real thing
Yes! Perfect! Those stats mean at maximum range you can do 7 max damage tops (one long range shot 2 damage then the close up 5 damage). That would be perfect. It would for sure be helpful in combat but not game-breakingly helpful.
Oh and what is that black armor?

Chainmail bro, but I don't think anyone has any ideas on how that will be implemented, it's there, notch is thinking about it, if you also check the .jar you'll see a purple arrow along with the normal arrow model as well...
You can dodge the shot, and if they try to dodge you can track them.
I have a problem with that quality in particular. If you can track them, you can easily negate any dodging skills they have, esp. with the shorter fire time. You give people a split second to react, and then allow the wielder to compensate for their dodge. This effectively negates the opponents skill. This is bad. The opponents skill should never be negated.
@Kryscent
There's a great difference between a Matchlock (The Arquebus) and a Flintlock (Queen Anne, Musket etc)
A matchlock rifle be it Musket or Arquebus would produce way more smoke than the Muskets with Wheel Lock and Flintlock and was heavily fused based meaning they fired relatively slower.
Thank goodness, I hated the idea of just another game full of guns. We dun really need more player weapons. Different Arrows would be cool though.
I think adding something like a Canon for sieges would be awesome, but a catapult would be just as cool.
Well I was just intending it, and probably the op too, of it only being one gun and that's it. Since in the Middle Ages there was only really 2 guns being used The Arquebus and Handcannon, and they were just as effective as a Bow and Arrow, well that is when the weather was not rainy.
Oh come on, I bet he did, he bothers to read many of his tweets, why wouldn't he bother to read at least parts of it, or at least the proposition. I just don't see him being that type of guy.
I bet Notch is not interested even in bows reskinned as arquetaxi's.
It's called an Arquebus, and if he's not interested oh well, it's his game! Plus not having an Arquebus doesn't make it any less fun, it would've been a welcomed addition for me to make ranged combat much more interesting, but oh well. Maybe he'll add a crossbow some people like those.

Don't get why people oppose a gun and not crossbows. Crossbows add even less variety, all they are is a more powerful, slow bow. A gun like your suggesting would add a lot more tactics and resource dynamics.
"It would likely be the most damaging weapon in the game, if not comparable to a diamond sword. It would also have accuracy superior to that of the bow and arrow, but this is reasonable considering:"
I have a feeling the OP didn't read the wikipedia article himself, or know much about old day guns in the first place... They were unreliable, heavy, inaccurate, and the only advantage they really held was that it required less training to get used to aiming them. Not only that, but when it rained the gun would become useless. They were highly conditional weapons with many, many draw backs. For instance:
"An arquebus was also significantly more dangerous to its user. The arquebusier carries a lot of gunpowder on his person and has a lit match in one hand. The same goes for the soldiers next to him. Amid the confusion, stress and fumbling of a battle, arquebusiers are potentially a danger to themselves. Early arquebuses tended to have a drastic recoil. They took a long time to load unless using the 'continuous fire' strategy, where one line would shoot and reload while the next line shot. They also tended to overheat. During repeated firing, guns could become clogged and explode, causing pieces of metal and wood to break off, which could be dangerous to the gunner and even those around him. In this context it should be added that reloading an arquebus requires more fine motor skills and movements than reloading a bow or crossbow. This is a disadvantage in a combat situation since stress has a very negative impact on fine motor skills."
This is a common issue with early fire arms that I'm sure most people are aware of. The guns would actually explode and potentially kill you if anything went wrong. Besides that, the guns were amazingly loud and held potential to make the user "permanently hard at hearing", and lacked the ability to fire over obstacles (like castle walls) as bows did.
I don't find the suggestion unreasonable, but the OP seems to believe that guns would be an amazing weapon with a few draw backs for balancing purposes. I'm pretty sure that with all the disadvantages it brings the only case anyone would actually use the gun for is defending a house, as challenging anyone with a bow would bring certain death on your part while you fumbled to reload it (considering you missed the first shot).

It was discussed, in detail, that the Arquebus' damage would be derived/compared to the damage of the bow and arrow.

Well there is an outline on the wood, but on the metal, IDK it would just compromise the aesthetic too much. I'll see what I can do about it.

Here go read up on it if you don't believe me http://www.silcom.com/~vikman/isles/scr ... match.html , http://jan.ucc.nau.edu/~wew/Tattershall-tb/ml.html
Example of Matchlock
Flintlock and Wheelock were later technologies introduced in the late 15 and 16th century.
Plus since you removed the fuse idea I have to agree with Mystify's opinion on the Flintlock you're proposing.
