I was thinking that the "Bonus: Chest" option also contains a Bonus: Village option. If you choose Bonus: Village, you get a Village at spawn and a chest.
If you did not know, having a bonus chest turned on gives you tools to start with.
This way, it gives like a RPG feel that you started from somewhere. Like Pallet Town from Pokemon. For players that want to settle in a village, they can get that feel from the attachment to the village they spawn in.
I don't know how hard it is to code a village straight in spawn. But I hope it is manageable enough to code in.
Doesn't make it a bad idea if you dislike it without reason.
I do dislike it FOR a reason. Like I said, if you want a town to start in, find a seed for it. and have the bonus chest on. Then you will get what you want. Plus, by having this option it would essentially give you two choices of where you can spawn. Either plains or desert since these are the only places a village can be generated. That would kill a big part of the randomness of your spawn location.
My god it's simple back in alpha there wasn't any damn villages or strongholds just exploring a world you knew nothing about, villages should be something rare to find I remember my first night couldn't find any coal and I used my furnace light to light up my house for that night.
Villages are already very helpful and give way to many bonuses that's why I disable structures most of the time since they make the game a lot easier.
Bonus Chests are good for beginners and first time players , god I haven't even tried it yet since it's easy enough as is.
Just do it right, get a map and explore to find a village in your world

If people really want a town they will just find a map seed for one that is close to the spawn.
I think that adding Village at spawn would destroy Minecraft equal to how adding bonus chests destroy Minecraft. None at all.

That is why I followed it up with a comment. Read the whole thread before attacking.
If they are new they probably wont know what a bonus village is either.
It makes it sound like you're just mumbling to yourself.
(When I read it in my head)
Also, no need to implement something that can be done very, VERY easily without Mojang trying to add this as they're busy as they're now.
f*ck.
People could just look up a seed if they really want to start at a village.
