Wait, What happens if you craft a bed with different wool colors?
Its like crafting wooden stairs with the same type of wooden planks (for the newest snapshots and 1.3+). You can't craft a bed with different coloured wools anymore.
Don't like the colored glass idea so much (Painting glass doesn't make sense to me, I like the suggestion from the other thread more, sorry)
The rest of this though I support greatly. Imo you should only be able to paint vertical surfaces (no painting floors in other words), and also there should be limits on types of blocks you can paint (no painting dirt blocks for example, that would make no sense). Just my two cents, but yes I do support this idea over all. :3

How painting glass doesn't make sense to you? Google "Glass painting" And why only vertical surface? also did you read the entire Op? I mentioned that Brick Blocks are the only paintable blocks. You can't paint Dirt or any other blocks (except glass, but the main part of this thread is craftable paints for brick blocks!). Thanks anyway!

I mean, you CAN paint glass, but when you actually think of stained glass, that's..not painted glass. Painted glass just seems cheap to me, and as I said the idea in the other glass thread makes more sense to me. Just personal taste here.
..I somehow missed that you said only brick blocks because the picture example was painted stone. My bad. I don't like that it would only be brick blocks. You should be able to paint wood, stone, brick, and maybe stone bricks as well, at least. Bricks are nice but if you want to have a different material on the outside of your house, this method would mean you would still have to have double thick walls.
Also the vertical surfaces thing is personal taste, I don't want to see wool be useless which it seems like would happen if this were implemented and you could just paint floors.
OP: Awesome. I was about to go make a post and suggest pretty much exactly what you suggested with the bucket and colour idea, but I'm glad you got to it first - it's thought out much better than mine.
You definitely have my support.
i would absolutely love to recolour wooden blocks to make, for example, a white house. This has probably been suggested many times before, but yes, definitely support this!
Also, why take away the brick texture when painting?
Different materials that can be painted + retaining the texture underneath = much more options for al of us aesthetic people out there
Is there a reason why only bricks are paintable? Personaly, I think it would be nice to be able to paint any 'construction' material (coble, stone, wood, stone bricks, etc, but not dirt, sand, clay etc).

But still, great basic idea and much better elaborated than when I first posted something in those lines.
Agreed
I'd defiantly like to be able to paint one side of wooden planks and keep there texture. I'm currently building all the ships from Pirates of the Caribbean on my single player and the British Royal Navy ships are painted blue and yellow so I've been having to use wool instead of wood and it looks kinda ugly.
Apart from this I support your idea and think it would be a great idea to Minecraft as long as it doesn't take away all the uses of colored wool.
I like the fact that you can color different sides of the block to make a unique color pattern. Also, because it retextures the brick, it doesn't make brick walls look ugly. More modern. I love the glass ideas and bed ideas no matter what mod but I like that you don't have to MAKE it a certian color if you know what I mean. You can easily add color later.
Question time: Can you color it again? Say I don't LIKE the pink walls, I want it all blue dang it! It would be really cool to color again (Not cool in the case of a griefer though!)

I assume you'd be able to paint over it...
@ OP: Maybe this could be used to make custom paintings in the future as well. I like this suggestion a lot.
This is a great idea, though I'm not sure how to avoid using a bajillion item ids. Maybe it could be limited to certain blocks, for example wood and wool?
Nice ideas, but no, sorry. You may want to start a new thread?
Thanks and for the banner! Also I edited it a little.

I changed it. c:
Yep
Oh, I didn't know that, sorry and thanks!

Absolutely.
I support gas pockets in MC (see thread in Suggestions)!

This is one of the few suggestions it actually makes sense for mojang to put in the game.
Support.
